So the government is going to do a consultation with the public re same sex marriages The church stance is NO, as would the Islamic or Judaism stance be What is there to consult? as it stands religion says No to gay relationships end of story Being gay is not illegal in the country why do the two not learn to co exist? gays can have a ceremony (ala those who are not religious eg registry office) and the 'church' can carry on as per its beliefs I think personally the gays are in the wrong, as they are pushing for 'church weddings' although it clearly is against the churches values As a muslim can I now push for all pubs to be non alcoholic as it convenes my human rights to socialise? If this sounds ludicrous then so is the concept of gay religious ceremonies your views?
You are quite correct Fan. It is an attack on the church, **** all to do with Peter wanting to walk down the aisle with Paul. Why would they want to be part of the church anyway? The churches teaching says they are commiting a sin.
I agree, I dont think this is about 'marriage' per se. After all marriage in itself has religious connotations. Those not believing cohabit etc IF the issue is about rights for partners etc then this is the governments failure, not the churches It seems both the government and the gay community are blaming the church for their own inadequacies
Was listening to a huge debate re the footballer who has been picked for scotland, after having played for england during a under 19's or something in the past What I found extremely funny was they were slating this player when the news of englands win over pakistan in the cricket came over which lead to cheers and praising Kevin pietersen for his good knock What is it that makes people become completely hypocriical in these situations? A lotof the england cricket squad are not 'english', eg the likes of monty and bopara are british but not english Morgan played for Ireland etc And stuart pearce seems to have gone black for the up coming friendly against Holland, although this may be recompense for his racism against Ince and his brother being in the BNP
Typical puffs if you ask me, always wanting to be centre stage, bloody drama queens. Two bricks, is all that's needed.
The equivalent would actually be pushing for pubs to also serve soft drinks, as gays aren't asking for anybody else to be denied anything. Religion as a whole doesn't have a stance on homosexuality either, as there are a number with absolutely no opinion or official stance on it. I do agree about gay marriage in buildings of religions that have an open and undeniable set of commandments against homosexuality, though. It's a ****ing stupid idea. There are loads of churches that aren't functional as places of worship any more too, so why not use one of them?
Its not though is it As this is about 'forcing' the church to compromise its century old stance IMO It is compromising the rights of one group for the sake of another As I said I am muslim, so dont go into pubs. Can I now 'force' pubs to stop the sale of alcohol?
Being born here makes them British, not english. Last I checked (and it may have changed) but to be truly of this country your grandad has to be born here They cant become prime minister of this country for example
whether its a **** or not policy is a matter of opinion. If that is the case then maybe 'marriage' is what should be done away with, as its religious in it self This isnt about rights, as for that to happen all the that needs to happen is for the government to change the laws This is about specifically pushing the church to do something it fundamentally disagrees with After all civil ceremonies are available.
I've already said that I agree with you on this Fan, so I'm not saying that it is a **** policy, only that those that are should be removed, regardless of how long they've been established for. Marriage has nothing to do with religion though, so I don't know why you're pushing that angle.
Trouble is though fan, is that we are all being pushed into having to accept certain things we don't believe in, so in that respect why should the church be any different. For example, i'm no follower or admirer of the blatent ****ters we have plastered all over our tv's these days and i could think of nothing i would like to see than the end of than this, but due to political correctness we are forced to endure it for risk of being branded homophobic and such for raising concerns. This countries majority are as usual being dictated to by the minority.
