What up homies, I was just sorting my scores for this weeks 'i know the score' when i got to thinking Why not have a fantasy league next season? I dont mean one of those crappy forum based things, but somthing similar to 'i know the score'. Something similar to what the echo run up here might be easy enough for the admins to implement. You pick a team to for a goal keeper and a team to be you defense. Any goals both teams concede count as goals against. Then you pick say 5 midfielders/forwards who, if they score count as goals for...You score more than you concede and you get a win and 3 points. Might be a nice idea for next season given the popularity of 'i know the score'
Software is the issue matey, getting something built and integrated would be costly then trying to manage the thing (for instance you get points for assists etc, who's going to enter who got assists every week). I am open to possible solutions to these problems mind.
Sorry i havnt explained my self correctly. Each week you play against yourself...kinda The way you conceede is a given, nice and simple. Say i have Sunderland and arsenal as my GK/DEF..over the weekend let in 4 goals combined then so far my score for that week would be 0-4 Right...now say the rules say i pick 5 goalscorers (Midfielders/fowards) and over the same weekend they score 5 goals combined...then my results for that weekend would be a 5-4 win meaning i would get 3 points. No assists just pure goals. nice and simple. The only data that would need to be entered into the system would be the weekend results and the goalscorers. If we confined it to say the championship and prem then this isnt a bucket load of data to enter in. A simple data base. I used to be good at this kinda thing back in college but from what i remember.....you would need 3 databases all linked...one containing results..one containing team data...one containing the league table. The whole process could be pretty much automated apart from entering the score data in..but this is already done in someway a la 'i know the score' Oviously this is just the bare bones...other rules would need to be implemented..like budget and what happens if a team doesnt play over the weekend etc As for the software/cost problem, much of this could be down this limited programming techniques using microsoft access. I dont know much about the site integration issues however. If it proved to be troublesome though, the databases could be created offline..team data entered etc and published as a forum thread. But i think this might take away from the imersion of it. I see it running similar to i know the score
why not just set up a league here: (free) http://fantasy.premierleague.com/ and post the league code on the main forum, then who-ever wants in can join! less hassle, nice and easy!
