Match Thread: Watford v Southampton

Though, since then, there's been some fairly modest posting too

 

I've always liked Hodson from the first match I saw him - his attacking play from full back was outstanding and his crosses were prem class.
Ok, he has to work on his defending and the opo regularly try getting their big men on him but still he is getting the ball away so he is working on that part of his game.

 

Not that I've been like that, but when you've had the success we've had the last couple years it's hardly surprising our optimism and cockiness (to an extent). I'll be in the watford end getting a good perspective of things I can assure you

I want to point Watford fans in the direction of this thread. Redandwhitecomrade is an arrogant idiot and I want to point out that his comments are extremely disrespectful to Watford and I am angry that he is making all Saints fans sound arrogant and disrespectful. I just want to point out that most Saints fans on this forum aren't like that.

 

Not that you're using the opinions of a very small handful of Saints people to form a complete judgement or anything.

 

Thats uncalled for Bucks. Most of the fans have been polite and have given some good banter. They have every right to be optimistic about tomorrow, they are top scorers in the league, have one of the best teams and are almost certain to be promoted. We on the other hand are a mid-table team at best, who were tipped for relegation. Weeds fans are arses and were down right rude. So far only Redandwhitecomrade has been half as bad as them.

It just shows what he knows. Unfortunately every forum has their share of idiots. The rest of you have been great to chat to. Its nice to have some proper banter for once, with out the foul language.

 

Most teams have their idiot over zealous idiots who come on the boards! We have got to be one of the nicest teams on here, but we do stand up for ourselves I hate teams who expect to turn us over, just because we are little old Watford!

They were unfortunately out in force when you thrashed us earlier in the season - I hope they don't crawl out of the woodwork tomorrow - sours the beer, I find.

 

unfortunately I've missed most of the banter this week on this thread. Last time it was great between the two sets of fans. Hornets - please don't let one idiot ruin our reputation.

Tomorrow will be very tough. One of my good mates isa Glory Hornet and still a sesson ticket holder at 60 odd. I've known him 20 years and can't remember a time I've been able to gloat after a trip to Vicarage road.

Infact it got so bad, the only thing I ever remember good at Vicarage road was me scoring the winner in a Youth Cup replay passed David James in about 1988.... that's how bad it is for Saints at Vicarage Road!!

I do however think we may just sneak a win tomorrow by the odd goal in three.

 

I am extremely confident for tomorrow,now we have a virtually full squad to pick from we should win fairly comfortably,but we all know only to well consistency hasnt been a strong point in the last couple of months.
Watford had been in decent form until they got dicked by Palace last week,so it certainly wont be easy,but my prediction would be 2-1 or 3-1 win for Saints.

 

Saints win, by a couple of goals. I think we've found a bit of form again, and can beat anybody when we're on song. We've not performed as well away as at home, but I think that may change soon. I'm not saying Watford are a pushover, I just think we will have too much for them.

 

Should be a good game with Watford scrapping and hassling and niggling at our heels. Need to be on our toes and avoid complacency. I don't expect us to be as good as we were against Derby, but we aren't likely to condede much, if at all, judging by our recent defensive record.

 

I don't think it's uncalled for Dan, from some of the posts I was reading there was a lot of arrogance (not to be confused with optimism and confidence), something I have seen a lot of in the past from such teams as Forest and Leeds.

But I will apologise that my post did show a generalisation of all Saints fans, I should have specified that it was just some that where talking as if they had already thrashed us poor "minnows".

 

Im sorry, maybe my post was not quite clear. I was not saying that the small minority of Saints fans (1/2) arent up themselves, but the vast majority have been very complimentary of us and are very kind. I do totally agree that there have been a couple of idiots who are giving the club a bad name though.

 

Watford are a decent side at home. I wouldn't be upset with a draw, apart from the fact in midweek our rivals won well away. This is the type of tricky fixture we really need to win for promotion.
