Laying on the sofa rather ill and trying to think of a good film to watch later, what are your personal favourites?
Some of my favourites... Shooter - Great thriller, on channel 4 over the weekend I believe Law abiding citizen - one of those films that keeps you guessing all the way! Limitless - kind of inspiring... Sex drive - very good comedy!
Scum, the business, nil by mouth, sexy beast, rise of the footsoldier etc Also like older American films like rain man, deer hunter, godfather, the graduate..
Changes with age, & even then its hard to pin point. In fact, I shouldn't even be on this thread because now I've thought about it.........I have not got a clue!
It's going to be interesting seeing what you choose and what it suggests about your character. I am now giving you prior warning to get your sick buckets. Ready? Dirty Dancing, Ghost, Star Trek.
I watched "The Grey" with Liam Neeson last night and thought it was pretty good....very tense... if you don't fancy a trip to Blockbusters, you can stream all the latest films on this site... http://www.movie2k.to/
Garden State, Bad Boy Bubby, District 13, Close Encounters, Porco Rosso......I have so many favourites from so many genres that I don't think I could do a top ten that stays the same
Casablanca - Humphrey Bogart at his best, and great one liners. Shawshank redemption - makes you laugh, cry and think The Mission - De Niro at his best. a great performance from Jeremy Irons and Ray McAnally, plus great musical score Looking for Eric - 2009 ken Loach film starring Eric Cantona - a manc postman has family problems, and turns to am imaginary erci for advice. brilliant ending where hundreds of his mates wearing cantona rubber masks to scare off a gang of drug dealers - brilliant!! henry V - Sir Laurence Olivier in all his pomp. The Sound of Music - great picmeup when feeling low, and great songs - Doh a deer........ Bladerunner - everything perfect!! The Fifth element - poor film, but Mila Jovavic with nothing on. - need I say more. 2001 a space odyssey. stanley kubrick gem starts with a chimp, and ends with a baby circling the world - great effects, and great score. Monty Pythons - the meaning of life - offends most groups within first 20 mins!
Nice to see another Ghibli fan, Optimistic. I love Miyazaki's habit of setting a fantastical story in a slightly alternate history and Porco is probably the best example of that. Have you seen many of the others? Laputa, Castle in the Sky is another favourite of mine.
