If you look at the last 3 managers we've promoted from within it doesn't seem a bad way to go:

Barmby - alright it's early and he needs to realise that a goal scoring problem that lasts 30 odd games isn't down to form/luck, but overall not too shabby.
Brown - a rescue mission, a promotion, and a survival
Joyce - the ultimate rescue mission, and then midtable.

He was obviously one of their best players, if not the best player, but his leaving us unlikely to do much to effect their form, they haven't played him since he handed in a transfer request almost two months ago.

He's gone to that obscure Russian team managed by Hiddink I believe. They have tiny crowds, but huge wealth and their stadium is right next to Georgia, which is still a somewhat dicey region.

At 27, right in the middle of his peak years, I think it's slightly disappointing he'e chosen to go there rather then continue to test himself in one of the top leagues. But, massive money innit.

No Brian Little was. Then it was Molby, and then Taylor. Then Parkinson, Brown, Dowie, Pearson, and finally Barmby. But of those managers only Joyce, Brown, and Barmby were promoted from within.

I was a bit wary of using Brown though, I wasn't sure if he counted as promoted from within since he was always brought in with the idea of him becoming manager in mind. (if Parky failed to turn it round Brown would take over when he did, the alternatives where to sack Parky then, or wait til we did and have a new man come in and have to get to know the squad with the window a week or two away)

Well - they came back from 2 goals down at Newcastle today and got a point - new manager syndrome maybe but I hope for the fans that Terry Connor makes a go of it and keeps them in the premiership.

QPR are playing their part, another player sent off on his debut for them. So far this season just off the top of my head that's Barton, Cisse, and now Diakite all managed it.

EDIT: Hang on, Barton didn't, who am I thinking of?

from what i saw on MOTD Newcastle chucked that game away. Still think that Wolvers and Bolton will be the bottom 2 by the end of the season. Wigan look to have some fight in them now. But will it be enough ? Hope they stay up and DQPR go down. Serves em right for sacking Colin W.
