According to Sky Sources Andrey Arshavin has been loaned out to Zenit . The loan fee is £1 Million and will probably make a permanent move in the summer. We need a miracle against Milan so we are all but out of every cup competitions and only have league games until the end of the season. With Gervinho,Walcott,AOC,Rosicky and Yossi, its not really a loss imo.

Lets hope he does enough to make sure they pay us a decent transfer fee in the summer.

Right we buy @£15m?- pay him £50k per week for how long?
We now 'loan' him out for £1m.
Possibly amongst the worst players in our team for 2 years.
    Great bit of business.

Well, you could argue that he saved us when he first came. We where in fifth and Cesc was out injured. Arshavin turned up and was world class for the rest of that season. We got 4th in the end. The club knew the risk when they first got him because of the age. Hopefully he turns it on and Zenit have to pay us a decent transfer fee. Also we get him off the wage bill.

One thing that I always remember about Arshavin and that first 6 months of his career at Arsenal was the FA Cup semi-final. He was easily one of the form players in Europe and Wenger only went and dropped him for the semi-final against Chelsea despite Arshavin being cup tied in the CL and therefore was not resting him or anything, just dropped. That was a horrendous decision.

  12. I just read the Sky Sports report too

    Spot on SJW

Arshavin's departure has been coming for some time.

Yes he did but I imagine we know now to take whatever Wenger says with more than a pinch of salt.

  13. And so the winds of change begin to sweep through and thus refresh the resolute, but battle weary, few.

I guess it makes sense. Gervinho is back and oxo has overtaken him in the pecking order.

Biggest waiste of talent in football. Could have been a world beater but he's lazy, arrogant and seems more interested in money than anything else.

if this is true then it could be the start of the changes needed at our club .... call to all taxi drivers who support arsenal ... get down to the emirates to get him to the airport fast.

wenger... yet another failure to bluff your way around in the press confs, a waster bought at the last minute and seemingly shipped out at the last minute .. sounds like great foreward planning by the arsenal brains trust, why did we not do this and get another player in in Jan??, admittingly a one legged donkey with asthma could put in more effort then this guy but leaving us with 5 fit first team midfield players (and 1 of them a loanee) as we enter the business end of the season .. great planning .. you reap what you sow.

yet another lazy overated midfielder shipped out ... he can join denilson in the annuls of our recent history ...andre who? forgttoen before his flight lands.

Spot on. Remember the end-of-January excitement when we landed him in the eleventh hour? Great first 6 months at the club then boom-very little after that. Such a disappointment. I will always remember him for that 4 against Liverpool and one of the sweetest moments in recent years-smashing in the winner against Barca last season.

the odd moment in over 130 appearences tells me he could score great goals and provide a great pass ... the fact he spent more engergy renegociating his pay when he realised he had to pay income tax tells me he is a bone idol waster who is better off out of the club then in it .. it allows us to move forward with players with class who want to stay .. the fact we need to buy half a dozen of these takes me back to the poor planning and investment by wenger.

for every good move forward he made, he left us exposed by a total lack of support for his defenders ... the guys a waster ... we have just got lucky by the looks of it.

Hopefully its the start of a squad revamp!

I agree with Suker Suker, I was one of the most excited gooners when we signed for us. He gave a great 6 months and kept us in the CL, then fell to peices after that. He made me sick just watching him in the shirt.

I guess being played out of position doesn't help does it. I feel very sorry for him because I feel his confidence is gone. He will never be the player that starred at Euro 2008 again.
