I very much doubt it as they will always seem to find ways & means but with the courts once again coming out on Karen Murphy's side it looks like things could change.

Can you imagine if Sky pulled out? Footballers would have to likely get along on more reasonable wages.

 

Don't hold your breath billy can only see one winner in all this. Sky will no doubt charge more for their broadcasts to other countries who will then either, drop them all together or charge around the same as Sky are now.

I think sky will own the rights for many years but what it will lead to is what those rights represent. I think the prem league and fa will have to give up their steadfast hold of 3 o'clock kick offs on a saturday and lead to either an omni ticket or a season ticket. I think more likely an on the box season ticket. Personally I love live footy and always will but like many ex-pats find myself in a situation where I either forego watching the game or stream it. I want a season ticket but can rarely make it, the technology exists why can I not support my club without breaking the law?

Hats off to Karen Murphy for me like, Sky just make the rules up as they go along. I've never missed a game I've been unable to attend due to sopcasts streams.

Thought ESPN & Apple were planning on challenging Sky from 2013 onwards regarding the football.

 

I wonder if this explains Quinn's timing for leaving? If he had stayed the media would have tried to get him involved. He might not have wanted this issue to dominate his final days in the job.

 

Actually the Premier League and the Football League still hold the copyright and could prosecute for infringement of copyright.

 

The copyright it seems is restricted to opening video sequences, theme music, on screen graphics & highlights of previous games. All of which are avoidable.

However, it does seem to be set for a long, drawn out battle. The lawyers will be loving it.
