Hola Dexter, of course you are right the Basque Tapas are called "Pintxos" but if I had said that in my comment I'm sure most of the fans on this forum would not know what I was talking about. I paid my first visit to Bilbao last July and stayed for a couple of days in a hotel right next to Athletico's stadium and there was huge construction going on right outside my window which I understood to be their new stadium ? Not sure if this is completed yet or whether they are still playing at their "old" stadium but either way the hotel is situated right next to both of them on the banks of the river. I had the pleasure of eating Pintxos in that area and also in the "old town " only to be surpassed by experiences in San Sebastian a couple of days later ! Anyway back to the football and I look forward to a good match, great food and bars, good looking Basque females and most of all a United victory !!!!!!!! Oh and by the way Alan having watched Nani home and away, in the flesh , most of the season, for someone with so much talent he has been dire and his corners are crap.
^typical taking more joy out of anothers failure than your owns success. Typical plastic fan, should you not be supporting City about now?
i don't think it's Pogba's fault i haven't heard a word from him. it's all paper talk, fed by his agent no doubt!but from what little i have seen of him he will get his chance when sir alex thinks it's the best time for the club and as we know nobody tells sir alex what to do or when to do it ,yes he may have been rushed into certain things along the line but they would have been forced on him, time restraints etc etc !so hopefully pogba will get his head down and become the better player we know he can be.what's it sir matt said "money find's you, at manchester united"..
most of that team will not play at the weekend ,the back four will only have one jone's or smalling at right back Rio evens evra they were not playing last night the midfield will have one from last night (maybe)cleverly ,i cant see young playing and nani will probably be slaughtered by fergie and wont be fit to play the two up front wont play it will be Rooney and wellbeck so last night's team were very inexperienced in Europe in that set up .i was sort of half hoping we would go out when they went two one up thios europe cup is a distraction with Valencia out we dont want anymore injuries and vidic got injured v basle .it was the worse game i have seen for a long time really disappointed with ashley young and nani they both started the season well but the few injuries have stop us in our stride but if we do what we have been doing for years come good at the last third we will be alright and the excitement of beating the berties to the title wil be all the more sweeter.
United 63,you are a man of very good taste! The oldtown,Casco Viejo,is indeed a treat and incorporates the original seven streets of our great city. I must agree that San Sebastian is a prettier city with better food, but only begrudgingly! The new stadium is located just behind the old one..(Highbury/Emirates scenario) and I think your hotel may have been the Sheraton?..either way we are still in San Mames, the Cathedral...hence our name "Los Leones". The Basque birds aren't too bad..I married one. You guys will be made extemely welcome,as you already know.No old nonsense. BTW..we are Athletic...not Athletico!...our strip and English name is allegedly derived from Sunderland ship yard workers who initiated footy there. I'm defo there for the game and look forward to seeing the Mancs!
Mano...you can never "loosely" follow the Athletic..ditch that American pseudo superiority!...I'm 25% Basque with a Bilbao wife but am only just accepted.. Come aboard mate..all footy fans welcome..we are unique!.. Impossible for us to beat a global jugganaut like Utd,but imagine a team selected from 3m people playing a team with the best players from all over the World..magical...Iker Muniaian..you heard his name here first. These matches are unfortunately a shop window for our best players, and given the Cantera policy,it is so hard for us to replace them. They are very well paid because of that but that can't ensure allegiance. Llorente has a buy out clause of 40m and Javi Martinez 30m..man city offered 22m for the latter named player 2 years ago and are still chasing him. It is a great tie for us but in some ways the worst. One thing is for sure,Fernanado Llorente will have Evans and Rio on toast, whether we win or lose. Utd fans will appreciate our traditions, that is for sure.
Terrible game, Ajax are pathetic, they get back into the game slightly and then they take their two best players off, no wonder they are 6th in the Dutch pub league.
Hey Dexter, trying to organise our trip to Bilbao and exploring different ways of travelling there ( I went by car and ferry last July ). What flights remain seem quite expensive so have been looking at flights from Manchester/Liverpool to either Carcassonne, Bordeaux or Toulouse and then hiring a car and driving there. Any suggestions for the cheapest way to travel there for 4 guys ? You didn't say whether the new stadium is finished or not and if Athletic are playing there now. As we haven't got tickets yet from United, what are the chances of buying tickets from the stadium before the game ? ps long trip to Norwich but Giggs made it all worthwhile, 900 not out, the guys amazing !!!!!!!!!
