Black Cats battle Euro giants Sunderland hoping to beat Milan and Sporting to youngsters By Graeme Bailey - Tweet me: @skygraemebailey. Last Updated: February 24, 2012 11:17am Robert Mirosavic and Linus Wahlqvist have spent time on trial on Wearside in recent weeks. 15-year-old central defender Wahlqvist has emerged as one of the most highly-rated youngsters in Scandinavia. He has impressed during training stints with the Black Cats, but Italian giants Milan are also keen. Now Sunderland are ready to battle it out with the Serie A giants, with the player believed to be keen on a move to the North East having been impressed with the facilities at the Academy of Light. Mirosavic And Wahlqvist is not the only youngster who could soon be finalising a move as the Wearsiders are still interested in Sweden Under 17 captain Mirosavic. The Helsingborgs forward has spent two separate trials with Sunderland and has impressed their youth coaches. Barcelona, Real Madrid, Arsenal and Chelsea also have an interest in the 17-year-old. However, Sporting have moved into pole position in recent weeks and they are confident of finalising a deal for him on a long-term contract.
Bit of a big think for a 15 year old.....but i guess your correct... Although, as you live in France, am i correct in thinking they finish school at 15?..... two of my kids who live there did, then went onto higher education..
I like to see us being linked with these kind of prospects, does anyone know if we signed the other Swede kid who was here in January? Having Seb will help us along with this, and Scandinavian's generally do very well indeed in England. The Jan Vertonghen rumours seem to be gathering pace here on the continent, 2 horse race between us and Roma, with the players preference being England, but Roma having the obvious advantage of not being based in the city of Sunderland. Now THAT would be a next level signing (stand by for an Arsenal gazzump....)
I thought the toon were linked with Vertonghen as well? Pardew went to watch him at Old Trafford apparently
Dunno mate, it's not unrealistic to think so though, he's a cracking player, and either side would benefit massively from him. I've not seen the Toon linked, just us and Roma.
Just rumours at moment but we are meant to be interested http://www.sunderlandecho.com/sport...onghen_the_man_for_newcastle_united_1_4275601
It's in today rags.....just couldn't be arsed to post it, as it's fairly irrelevant what they do.......
Aye, As I said, not a surprise, as we're both hovering around the same kind of level, it's normal we'll go after similar players. This is the right level for us both to try and improve, not as if we're gonna be chasing Ronaldo or Messi, so good, solid, dare I say 'Europe ready' players are what we both need, steady improvement.
