With Chelsea and us flopping and Newcastle not really being top 4 contenders anyway, do you think Liverpool have the required MENTAL STRENGTH to go for the top four or will Arsenal or Chelsea get it?

Liverpool are currently on a good patch and I think the game at Anfield will decide the champions league Spot. But will their run last?

It's getting tiring hearing people shamelessly writing off Newcastle. We are 25 games in now, it's not like Newcastle have just had a lucky start any more. They are in as good a position as anybody to get 4th.

If you look on the Newcastle board I've written numerous articles praising them and saying they could get it.

But I think that while they won't get fourth they will get fifth or sixth.

The team that gets fourth will go on a run far superior to the other two out of Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal, IMO.

    This ^^

The game on sunday is very important for us, if we win the whole team will feel a whole lot better in confidence. On the other hand if we lose I reckon it will make things so much worse for us, that could lead to us finishing 7th behind newcastle and you lot.

I'm hoping that we can change some of these home draws into wins and nick 4th. I agree with the guy about Newcastle, they have a good chance imo.

Yes Luv, I don't see how people can say they'll drop off. They haven't got "lucky", they've just played well.

Liverpool IMO will finish sixth and win one of the two domestic trophies. Which, If I were a Liverpool supporter, I would be happy with.

The reality is, if we had have scored the goals we should have done, we'd be sitting pretty in fourth or even third. We haven't had the cutting edge this year - we've dominated teams without scoring, especially at Anfield. We may have played ourselves out of fourth.

But we are picking up slightly, Carroll is starting (finally) to resemble a footballer, Suarez and now Gerrard too are back and linking well.

The game against Arsenal will be crucial, yes. You guys have a good team, despite the press and are very much even with us, although you do have more pace and guile in your side.

    I think we can:

    1) Come into the game on a high after the cup win.
    2) Come into the game on a low after a cup defeat.
    3) Come into the game fired up after a cup defeat.

4th spot depends on who can handle the pressure the best. In terms of quality, neither Arsenal, Chelsea or Liverpool have lit the league up this season. On paper, Chelsea have the best squad, followed by Arsenal and then Liverpool. But out of the 3, Liverpool have the best chance of going on a run if they win the Carling Cup. Arsenal are playing for pride and Chelsea are still in 2 competitions.

Chelsea and Arsenal are imploding for different reasons, but on the face of it, they are struggling to get it together. Liverpool seem to be the most stable at the moment and the most probable. If they win something then i'll place them in a good position to reach it....

Newcastle have an outside chance but they lack the experience to clinch 4th. Pardew has limited experience of getting into these advance positions.

Nah, in fairness I dont think you have as many top quality players as you used to...

Carragher, Gerrard are past it now

The rest of the team are average or just slightly above average

Bellamy is a tank, Carroll needs to find form desperately

Suarez will imo leave English Football at the end of the season, leaving liverpool with a major forwards problem

I'd like to think Suarez would stay, it's the least he can do for us as a club considering the amount of **** he's caused and the fact we've stuck by him all this time. Carroll is finding some form, not 35m worth but some form none the less. Bellamy's a great player, wish he was 10 years younger! Or... He didn't have ****ed up knee's <grr>

In support of Suarez, most of the **** was caused by some strange decisions within the LFC management team.

    Carrol will come good eventually.

Dont think he can stay tbh, for the reasons you've mentioned
Hes seriously harmed the reputation of Liverpool, as well as Kenny Daglish so i think they will want to seperate from him
Carroll and Hendo you paid well over the odds for!
Bellamy is only on loan though isnt he ?

Go for a player called Demba Ba, plays in the north of england, scores a few goals and you'd be doing Sunderland fans a favour ;D

They made some poor buys, it's a shame Wenger doesn't have that kind of transfer kitty. Just imagine the team he would create from that!!!
