I agree. However only someone a bit simple would include someone in their team who isn't in the squad Why isn't he in the squad ?
let me be quite clear... thats a **** squad and wouldn;t get out of a good group in the euros and would certinly go out at qf stage. there's a heap of full backs, or players thrown out their by thier sides like jones and smalling... jk is right about cbs but look honesly and smell the coffee... wake up etc etc.. there's not much talent there at all..
BREAKING NEWS What a day for Phil Jones. After being named in Stuart Pearce's England squad, Jones is handed the captain's armband against Ajax. Ryan Giggs will have to wait a little longer for his landmark 900th appearance after being left out of the starting line-up. Dimitar Berbatov partners Javier Hernandez in attack as Wayne Rooney is ill.
wrong thread for a match preview but good for phil jones... clealry ferguson doesn't give a dman baout this as he picked brebaflop who he never trusts in a game he cares about lol... thanks for the laugh,.
The same Giggs that has allowed his club manager to manipulate his international career with fake injuries. No wonder then hes on the verge of his 900th club game.
Jones is so overrated it's untrue. Although he made a great assist for Ajax's goal tonight...superb pass
I agree. When in an England shirt he does not fill me with confidence. But I think he probably has a bright future.
what the next terry? or rio? winning cups based on far better foreign imports (no coincidence that carvalho left coincided with chelseas collapse) and failing for england consistently. let no-one ever forget this pair of clowns led england under mccalren to exactly what???? jones and smalling are fullbacks for utd for a reason. Utd were so bad in midfield and the back that even evans was an improvement and they just put 11 men behind the ball and hoped last night... quality alight lol
King will be playing in the NLD on Sunday and doesn't train because of his knees so I don't think he'd be able to play against Holland midweek. No idea why Lescott, Jagielka and Dawson were left out. Would've been nice to give Defoe a game too, somehow he's still managed 8 league goals despite only getting a few starts here and there. I think we'll get taken apart on Wednesday if Pearce insists on "experimenting".
Just my opinion, but I reckon Psycho has simply chosen players he's had in the U21s. I don't suppose his remit ran to visiting matches to run the rule over the older players, so he's going with what, and who, he knows in many cases (esp. Campbell)...
That's certainly going to have played some part in it. In my opinion selecting former under 21s like Smalling, Cleverley, and Campbell just goes to show that he doesn't know the level of player he needs to play Holland, much like when Hodgson signed Konchesky for you and Martinez signed Scotland for Wigan. Picking only 3 centre backs is arguably the most bizarre decision, it's been ages since Richards has played centre back and I don't think anyone else can fill in.
I think he's picked based on NOT being butchered by the media post game. He's the guy with the balls to bring in young players and break the old regime of egos. If he loses, it's a 'work in progress' (lol, heard that a few times this season) but the experience is good for the lads and that's what friendly's are for. If he wins, he's heralded as the next best thing for breaking the regime and playing kids - proving what most of us think in that our golden era stars are bast it. Cole and Gerrard are there so that he has some kind of experience in the squad, so he has an option for captain and because they're the best of a bad bunch. Jones and Smalling will be put to the sword by Holland, will be funny to watch at least.
