Morning all - Very mild day in West West London, it was 12C when I arrived at 7 PM. Sad day yesterday...RIP 2 special men
Morning all. The sun is shining here but its still chilly. Uni this afternoon and hoping to get a bit of the dissertation written.
It was 26 years ago yesterday that my dear old dad passed and the comic genius that was Frank Carson passed away yesterday...
I am sad for your loss W_Y even after 26 years your father is a bad loss, I know my father died in 1997 when he young and I miss him. He had hvitblæði, I think you call this blood cancer or leukaemia.
Morning all Thanks for the caramel latte Ak. Cancellation today so much calmer than the first 4 frenetic days of my week ...time to take a deep breath and recoup before it all kicks off again on Sunday! w_y as we say "i wish you long life"...(what we say when someone is remembering their lost ones). i have to admit though, i didn't find Frank Carson even a teensy bit funny. Leukaemia is cruel Ak, i've watched a few people die of that disease, including a close friend's 2 year old...not good, but more and more people survive it these days, thanks to some amazing research...just not everyone yet, sadly.
Thanks for the Coffee Ak much appreciated. Like both yourself and W_Y I too have lost my Father but luckily not as early as both of you. However I do sometimes see him in my mirror at home when I'm shaving. Sorry you did not find Frank Carson's joke funny Hornette, perhaps it was the way he told them. (That's a cracker )
H & AK - Many thanks. even after 26 years it is difficult as now when I look at my eldest son and realise I was that age when my dad passed.. The thing with Frank Carson was not that his jokes were always massively funny, but he could entertain. He did not have to resort to racist or blue jokes or tell stories, he told jokes and kids loved him - I heard Chris Tarrant this morning say that Frank was one of the funniest men he had ever met. He is probably one of the last of the classic joke tellers and for me that is sad...just hearing Frank say "It's the way I tell 'em" was enough to put a smile on my face - and that is a talent...
It's always tough...having lost my own dad a little too early too, it's never easy..however it happens... He was never blue, i'll grant you, but he was racist, and he picked on groups of people.. he wouldn't have got away with many of his 'jokes' now...but each to their own..one man's meat..etc
Rather grey and damp here at the moment, but the sign of better things to come. I see that Pompey only have enough money to survive for about six weeks. They have let their best player in the eyes of some go to Brum on loan to save money. The FL have told them that as long as they have 14 fit players they cannot sign anyone else. Life at the Vic seems quite easy compared to down there, but then we are not paying players £20-30k per week on long contracts.
Afternoon all, had a great night yesterday. I did managed to get into the filming of 'Celebrity Juice' which is on air tonight. Luckily I was on the back row so I doubt I'll be in any of the shots. Filming took about 2 1/2 hours and the program is only 45 mins so will be interested to see what gets through the edit. Lots of naughty words being used last night but it was very, very funny. One team was Jake Humphrey, Emma Bunton & Tess Daley (in what can only be described as a wetsuit style dress.....very short and very clingy ). The other team was Fearne Cotton, Rufus Hound and Danny Dyer, who was also very funny and very friendly afterwards. He winked at Mrs Sandy on his way out of the Studio as we were leaving through the reception at the same time. Mrs Sandy now thinks he is quite fit!!!
so glad you got in Sandy! Must have been great fun ...ah Mrs Sandy isn't wrong about Danny Dyer lol..
