yea i did the qualification when i was 14 haha, its not that bad easy money for that! especially when you referee kids football, couldnt be easier. to get up to like northern league and that you have to apply for a promotion and some guy will come and watch you for a few games and decide if you should get promoted i think you need to be level 5 or 4 for northern league, you start at level 7 and go downwards...

Do you aspire to referee at a higher level? Also, do you have to declare which clubs you support, to avoid bias?

hmm not at the moment i dont as ive just dont my coaching course and am a manager of a team so refereeing doesnt really come first, but if i did start doing it more again then id consider it as its something that is possible as there looking for referees in the mid-high standard football say northern leagueish as there arnt many at the moment, but having the qualification makes watching the games so different. at every game i go to now as soon as we get 1 on 1 or somethign looks close, i look to the linesman straight away, so while everyone else is celebrating im swearing something at the officials... its also good to know that even though i am a referee i still give as much abuse as everyone else :L

Haha yes I imagine you see things very differently! Must be strange managing a team as well as refereeing!

"Oi ref! That was never a red! See! It says in the handbook!" <ok>

you wont believe me but ive used that one before! they scored a goal i believed to be offside. the referee said you couldnt be offside if it hit the keeper as it (in his words) 'cancels the offside' if wed have won, we would have won the league, we drew the game 3-3!! i confronted him after he said it and he told me to shut up and walk away as i dont know the rules. his reaction to me saying yes i do, im a referee was brilliant. his face just dropped and he never looked my way again, think he crapped his pants as he walked off after the game without shaking me hand...
