Bit of a surprise given how soon it's come after his injury - but I don't think he'll look out of place.

So much for watching it announced live by Pearce on t'internet then, the bloody thing hasn't started yet.

    Full squad...

Goalkeepers: Scott Carson (Bursaspor), Joe Hart (Manchester City), Robert Green (West Ham United)

Defenders: Gary Cahill (Chelsea), Ashley Cole (Chelsea), Leighton Baines (Everton), Glen Johnson (Liverpool), Phil Jones (Manchester United), Micah Richards (Manchester City), Chris Smalling (Manchester United), Kyle Walker (Tottenham Hotspur)

Midfielders: Gareth Barry (Manchester City), Tom Cleverley (Manchester United), Stewart Downing (Liverpool), Adam Johnson (Manchester City), Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), James Milner (Manchester City), Scott Parker (Tottenham Hotspur), Ashley Young (Manchester United), Theo Walcott (Arsenal)

Forwards: Darren Bent (Aston Villa), Fraizer Campbell (Sunderland), Daniel Sturridge (Chelsea), Wayne Rooney (Manchester United), Danny Welbeck (Manchester United)

    No Lampard then.

I'm pleased to see Smalling, Jones, Cleverley, Adam Johnson, Sturridge and Welbeck in the side (and Campbell, of course)

Wheres the U21 squad? Brilliant news if so. I would of preferred Oxlade-Chamberlain to downing or walcott.

I'd have taken them both out the squad to have him. Downing and Walcott are crap.

I think Pearce has reassured the likes of Lampard, Lescott and Ferdinand that he's just taking a look around and they're very much still in the coaches' thoughts. Ferdinand must be a big doubt to make the Euro 2012 squad, though.

Of that squad, the ones who jump out to me as not being good enough are definitely Carson, plus Glen Johnson (should never have won so many caps - Richards all day for me) and maybe Downing (having a crap season).

I thought Oxlade-Chamberlain might have been in there too, though...

Walcott hasn't got it in him to be a top player, I watch him all the time and he's got a heart the size of a thimble, harsh but true. Being a nice lad isn't enough to make it to the top.

ON THE BBC SPORTS WEBSITE. OMG, are we that desperate for talent at international levels nowadays ? god help us and thank heavens that Pearce only has the job for one match at present. Matthews and Finney will be turning in there graves at just how badly off we are now for talent. imo. <grr>

Spare a thought for Spain, they've only got Pepe Reina, Iker Casillas, Victor Valdes and David De Gea to choose from. Poor souls.

We've got a bloke playing in Turkey and someone not good enough to have earned a move from the English 2nd tier.

I'm ****ing glad we don't have De Gea in the running for us, he's nearly as bad as Carson.

**** knows what more John Ruddy needs to do to get a call up - he's been outstanding for Norwich all season, far better than those two clowns.
