ID: Would you have looked at bringing Alan Pardew back? He has always said he has got unfinished business at West Ham, hasn’t he? DS: We thought about it. But remember, at the time he had failed to get Southampton promotion for two or three seasons despite spending a pile of money. He had flopped at Charlton, so it was hard to make a case. I liked Pardew. The press all liked him. Eh?
The remarkable thing for me is that they're carrying so much debt (if they don't get promoted, it's likely to come to administration), but Sullivan spends most of his time talking about spending more. Don't get me wrong, I think that they're pretty close to guaranteed to go up, but the way he and Gold have run that club financial misery awaits sooner rather than later. Edit: never mind, I didn't get to this part:
Send David Sullivan an email and tell him that you're a pretty good goal-scorer in five-a-side. Easiest 15k/week you'll ever make.
Any chance you could put: All the best, Brooking ?? As they way you write it, appears you are wishing yourself all the best. Unless ofc that's what you mean :-D
Morning sir Much better for my eyes thanks! And as I know nothing about G&S I cant really comment on this thread. Other than my little bro is a feb 5th child and by the sounds of it he is seriously underperforming in his football career
Brooking, I take your points about G&S especially some of us do not have all of the facts. However, there is a lot of pressure and expectation on your club to achieve promotion this year, otherwise that £8m profit you made in the PL will seem a distant memory...
Rich, i think there is a lot of pressure on most clubs but i agree about us needing promotion more than others, maybe thats why i cant enjoy this season as much as i should because we need every point, I dont think anyone can have a go at G&S for the way they run football clubs, when they was at Birmingham they updated the stadium and while they were a bit of a yoyo club, financially they were safe even tho they dont have a great fan base and when they left, Birmingham were sound financially, at West Ham if they carry on like they are then we should be debt free within 4-5 years as long as we stay in the prem which is going to be harder than ever. All the best, Brooking
Pretty sure Sharp is the striker for £1.75 mil that the article talks about who big Sam thought couldn't make the step up to the PL. So they went and signed Vaz Te instead, hmmm.
Rather back Adkins judgement over that of Big Sam...yes. I know he's an experienced manager, but I am totally biased.
Tevez, Neymar, Ronaldo, Rhodes, Sharp. All born on the 5th February eh...?? That's decided then, the missus is going to get it big time on the 5th May...!!
It was either Sharp or Rhodes, the only thing i would be worried about Sharp is he couldnt deliver at Sheff utd. All the best Brooking
Yeah fair enough, I know Sharp is untested at a higher level and, as you say, did poorly at Sheff Utd. I personally would rather have Sharp than Vaz Te, but only time will tell who is right.
