I'm not having a pop I'm just stating the obvious, if he comes up for sale there will be a handful of clubs in the CL willing to buy him, so he's not going to join Liverpool if you don't qualify. You could still get 4th, it's not like your tailed off, and Arsenal and Chelsea are looking voulnerable:biggrin:

two distinctly different players in different positions... one is a line leading cf, one is a second striker..

Cavani is who we should have spent £35M on.

I think Carroll is improving... But Cavani is Carroll + incredible engine and team play and impeccable technique.

Been reported that the Napoli owner has already said that if he got the right offer he'd be willing to sell them, along with Hamsik. Think he's expecting alot of bids this summer and he knows that if clubs like Real and Man citeh come knocking then Napoli arent going to be able to keep hold.

Hope that FSG are ready to spend again this summer and bidding for the Napoli group would be a huge step in the right direction.

I also think he knows with those type of funds he can go out and find another cavani type of player or lavezzi. Easier to get them in over in the Serie A with less work permit obligations. I could see him going for Denis from Atalanta, scoring for fun and very similar to Cavani if Cavani goes. Probably feels good about players to bring in .

Both. We could do with Cavani's finishing. As Picard says: "make it so, no.1"! <ok>

...except Napoli sold Denis to Udinese after two seasons (2008-2010), and he's 30 already.

I think that the key would be CL football - we need 4th to generate the money for wages, and to give ambitious players the chance to maintain CL football...

  10. We need to get fourth place first.

I agree, but to at least have a go at trying to buy would be a massive statement of intent by the owners. Show that they are serious about trying to win the league. Players we bought last summer were part of the squad building, but this summer we need to start the next step, start to add the players that are going to make a real difference, combined with starting to look at were the youth are going to fit in.
