Come on lads. When the SOL was under construction which of you sad lot would go down and watch it take shape into the finest stadium North of London? If you did...I've probably already met you.
I not only did it I dragged my then wife with me and wait for it, her mother, a Boro season ticket holder who was visiting us, she was back in Boror soon after
I remember going to Roker Park and seeing the plans for SOL in the boardroom. You could see how excited Bob Murray was. As the Stadium went up I was given regular tours to see how the stadium was progressing. On one tour we went right to to the top of the West stand I made a mental note to try and get a seat in the East stand! Happy days.
I went to see it many times and after it was finished got a look round inside before it officially opened
At that time, I worked as a CCTV operator in Sunderland, and one of our camera's gave a fantastic overview of the construction. Needless to say, I kept a very close eye on the progress...
Yup, every visit home involved a tour around the stadium as it was being built. My name's in the walls along with many others.
Used to drive past every week to see how it was looking and, at the time it was the finest stadium in the country not just North of London.
When you've put breeze blocks in your mates coffin mate to way it down I'll let you have a go. Otherwise, **** off.
