For a minute I was doubting myself but thanks for the stat! Goals WIN games, simples! we ain't going to keep 16 clean sheets from here on in
Middlesboro was lost due to poor marking and goalkeeping. Burnley was down to GK howler but Hobbs actually did us a favor with Gulacsi and Derby was Yes a poor effort. By keeping the other team to NIL we only need one and we are very capable of knicking a goal in any game.
Yes goals do win games, thats obvious but when you can keep the other team out you only need One. I would not bet against a few more 1-0 wins at all.
True, but that was equally true of the other six recent games where we didn't score, four of which we lost. You can't win without scoring. Fact. End of. Just saying like...
True. I like to see goals all the time. I was brought up on them. My first season Hull City scored over 100 in one season. Waggy - Chilton - Butler - Houghton all with 20+ each. But those days are gone. I cheer a clean sheet now like i used to do a hat-trick for Ken Wagstaff. So if we cannot score many dont conceed any. Which is what we are left with for now. I love a 1-0 Hull City win. then again, these days there is not much choice.
The point is, we are not going to keep 16 clean sheets, so I think the lack of goals will certainly cost us automatic promotion and may cost us a place in the top 6
i agree we wont keep 16 clean sheets, but i would not bet against say 10 more clean sheets. keep the faith and get off that panic button mate.
I'm not panicking, I'm just frustrated that we haven't added quality to the squad when most of our rivals have done
Great news mate. We are almost now at the point where its only results that count not performance. Almost. Mixed results last night but i was amazed that with Robert Green being sent off and Henri Lansbury going in goal (no back up keeper on WHU bench) that Blackpool only managed 1 goal.
City haven't really got out of 3rd / 4th gear this season but we're still within touching distance of promotion. Hopefully Nick can keep us on the shoulders of the front runners and hopefully we can hit 5th at the optimum time.
100% agreed. IF we can win by 6 clear goals tonight (i know i know) then 5th spot is ours. any win puts us 6th. Looking at some of the march fixtures for all of the top 9 clubs there is gonna be alot of cut-throating going on. Its a massive - massive month march for all of us.
Got to admire your optomism but I can't see us winning 6-0 tonight. However if we do win there will be a 3 point gap between 8th and 9th and if that expands it would reduce the chances of a lot of teams from breaking into the play-off race.
Thats why 2night is a must win game 4 me, we need to put distance between us and the like of brighton when we have the opportunity to do so
i dont for one moment think we shall win by 6 but was simply making the point. i am happy with 1-0 wins at this stage of the season. but a gap is now appearing for the play offs. the Middlesboro v. Reading game on saturday is one where a draw would be perfect whilst we have another weekend off. i would not rule out Blackpool dropping points @ Bristol City nor Southampton @ Watford. Also Forest may fancy getting something @ Birmingham as well. hope so.
