Although we are four points of the pace, I would say we are the team running into form, with the cup final to give a lift, and a full squad (lucas aside) to choose from, if we don't get bloody close, well the players all deserve a kick in the behind.

Our fixtures, are not to bad. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/teams/liverpool/fixtures Notice Chelsea home, one before last game of the season, last dozen games look very winable.

Looks like March may decide it for us?

If Spurs beat Arsenal this weekend and we beat them in our next PL game, we could be 1 point behind them with a game in hand. If you had a league table of the last 2-3 games I have predicted but kept our results the same Arsenal and Chelsea would be miles ahead...always seems to be a surprise result with them.

It would be hilarious if N'Gog scored the winner. Can't see the Pseudo Green and Yellows fu.king up against the original variety, sadly.

The long and short of it is, if we win on Sunday, we have to then get 4th to avoid playing Thursday night football! And that should be motivation enough to win every game until the end of the season.

And if we do, Cardiff have European football to look forward to ;-)

Bazray, on a point of order we don't own a european cup we own THE european cup. the other 4 are replicas of course but the one held by all the greats of the past sits in anfield

    <laugh> <ok>

I think we need to buck up our ideas i nthe league and carroll and suarez both playing and trying a leg should help that.. bellamy has literally carried us at times. downing needs to buck up big time.

a carling cup win with certain guys getting thier medals might just help that but i hope if soemone is dropped they don't give up cos we need all players playing.... finally an fa cup semi in april would be great incentive to play every game like its for your place at wembley again.

these cup runs could well improve our league form just by making guys play for slots.... being in the europa off of the calring cup can free us to attack attack attack also... I hope so.

Well, at least we all agree the chance of 4th is still there. Not sure if we will make it but if we at least try it should be fun along the way.

Can't believe with our recent run of results we are only 4 points off fourth

Still not confident. Arsenal's form is poor but they do still tend to churn out the results. Chelsea, although on a poor run, manage to score goals consitantly.

We are okay but do not break down teams when on top - which the above do do.

I don't see this changing atm. Cup win might give us the boost we need.

You missed out our recent league form is actually poor too.

Can't agree with you there b4f. Both Arsenal and Chelsea are in a mess at the very time that we are all entering the business part of the season. I truly believe that as Carroll has started to find some form and Suarez regains his match-fitness we are better placed than the other 2 to improve our position.

$th spot will depend not only on our form but also on the continuation of the Arsenal/Chelsea decline.

Well i'm not saying its impossible, but we are very inconsistant.

I can see Arsenal slipping as they usually so, but i'd be surprised if Chelsea do too.

    We havent mentioned Newcastle.

I truly believe that a win on Sunday will make our season. Firstly it would give us a European place - that in itself would help relieve some of the pressure of expectation. Secondly, with Carroll, Suarez and Gerrard on the pitch we look a far more positive and well balanced unit.

The problems at Chelsea are not going to be fixed before the end of the season. I cannot see them producing a sustained threat. Similarly, Arsenal are in a mess as a unit and have little depth upon which to call.

Now I was decried by the Geordies for suggesting that they would eventally finish 10th. I feel that i have to revise that in the light of the above to say 7th or 8th. They have over-performed so far but I cannot see them sustaining that run as opposition teams that they face fight even more strongly for the points.

I think fourth is definitely achievable, Sunday is a great opportunity to kick start our season although If we were to lose, it could have quite a damaging effect on our quest for champions league football. As others have said though, Arsenal and Chelsea have been so inconsistent so far, so all we need is a little run of results to go our way and fourth place will be in sight.

i agree with fordeck.. if carroll and suarez play i think we'll boost both men hugely.

I also didn't think newkie would make it this far... and have impressed bascially. I think they are functional with some good players but lack a bit of something. 7th sounds good cos it puts us above them at least! they had a savaging when the big games came round and these will come again.

I hope we win this cup final and power on from there and not sit back and bask in it... i don't think kenny will allow it

We need to do well in our home games , in particular beat both Arsenal and Chelsea, and pray that other results go our way.Seriously we have to put a run together.<ok>

I reckon from that fixture list, we should be more weary of Swansea and Norwich - We always come a cropper against these sort of teams. I hope KK has managed to restill the ethos of respect every team equally - I reckon that is what has been missing for a good few seasons now.
