No offence TheBear, but I think that £15m for Gotze is a little bit hopeful.
His agent has claimed that he won't be allowed to leave for less than €40m, which is a little more than double that amount (£33m-ish).

Dortmund confirmed that they turned down a £20m+ bid from Wenger last summer, so there's no way he's going to go for £15m. If we want players of the calibre of Goetze and Hazard then we are going to need to radically alter our spending policy, both on transfers and wages. If there's any truth to the story in the Mirror, we may be about to do just that. <ok>

you lot better nail 4th place if you want a chance to get anywhere near the top player's you have on your list, because big teams are looking at them, and they will want cl football to move

Not sure I agree with this, Liverpool got Suarez and they didn't have CL football. While I agree to a point that top players will want CL football, we don't need to buy top players, good players playing the right season can be more than a match against top players.

I think we need some top players. We've got a really good core of top talent in our young players like Szczesny, Wilshere, Frimpong, Coquelin and some established top players like Vermaelen, Sagna, Koscielney, Arteta, RVP - but we desperately need some quality in other areas.

This is your stock answer Cym, but I have NEVER been able to get tickets at £35 and I doubt there are even many tickets on offer that are in that £35 range.

Sitting up in the clouds having spent £45 on a ticket in an area with a narrow viewing angle because of the lip of the stadium and a pathetically bad atmosphere is not a reason to go just for the sake of going. I'd like to know fir there are lower tier tickets for £35 and whether Red members can get them or if they go on GS.

Yeah I'd love to know too cos I'd be on it like Sonic if I could get £35 tickets in the lower tier somewhere.

And yeah, sitting up in the clouds in a dead area of the stadium does not appeal to me .. but I've done it. When they go on GS though whenever I look I can see the colour coding says the lower tier has sold out, its always the upper tier thats available in some horrid seat and over £40 per ticket.

The last two paragraphs are a reply you gave to me.That is why you gave me the impression you were a red member.Perhaps if you were to become a member you would have a better chance of buying a cheaper ticket. As i posted earlier there are still £35 tickets available for the Newcastle game

I do not believe it. Every year Arsenal collapse in the spring and the board immediately start sending messages that they are not to blame: the money is there. Lots of money. As much as Wenger wants. Then summer comes and there seems to be not nearly as much money as it was claimed.
Even now first they said 50 ml. Now it appears that there will be 50 ml only if Arsenal qualify for CL. Come summer and those money will be only available if Arsene sells first...
I just do not believe them any more. I do not believe we will buy Goetze, or Hazard, or Vila or anyone of their quality. We will sell Squillaci, Vela, Bendtner, Almunia and will buy another Squillaci, Vela, Bendtner and Almunia.

According to the Arsenal site FAQ you can only buy single tickets as a Red member - which is no good to me cos I always need more than one, I don't go by myself.

  13. Dont tell me you have fallen for the £55m figure too!

We have £160m in the bank - of which about £35m has to be held for loan covenants. The reason given for only £55m available is that the cash is needed for cash flow to pay wages and expenses (and that we have had ~£65m in forward season ticket sales).

    This is utter bull****.

Whilst cashflow is an issue, how did we survive 10 years ago when we had little to no cash in the bank?? How do other teams survive and pay wages? A couple of season back Spurs had only about £6m in the bank - did they go bust??? If we have had forward season ticket money that means our income should drop from gate receipts dramatically in the next few seasons, unless.... wait... we forward sell some more season tickets!

And guess what, we'll be adding to our cash pile with even more profits - yes thats right we earn more in one season than all expenses incurred and turn a profit, so why is money being set aside for paying expenses that we can cover with this years income???

The cash in flows and outflows during a season will be a factor for any club but to suggest we need to hold nearly £80m for cashflow purposes is an utter lie that most fans will buy into because they dont understand finances.

It'll be a waste of your time asking Arsenal87 for his ticket for Sunday then.
Why don't you get a membership for the person you attend games with ?

Goetze is currently injured (been out for a while) so maybe 15 million is realistic. Or 15 million gets you Kagawa, who's been excellent this season.

Cheapest tickets i've seen are £38, excluding family enclosure tickets. Most are roughly £40-45.

Arsenal v Spurs I would go by myself I couldn't turn that game down.

Thats part of the problem Cym, I go with loads of different people who are normally broke and I'm loathed to shell out for their membership and their games too. But if its a case of I can't get tickets in spots where I want to be and these £35 tickets you talk about, it makes sense to become a red member - get 2 memberships. Will have to wait until next season though cos I am not spending full price for half a year's membership.

I agree with you, but getting 50 mil is all well and good, getting Wenger to spend it will be another matter. "No, i don't want to sign <insert name here> because it would hinder <insert name> progress. So he wouldn't sign Gotze because it would hurt Ramsey's progress (or decline, the way he's currently playing)
