May be a bit off central topic but player loyalty based on birth means nowt. Len Shackleton convinced Jackie Milburn to join Sunderland when he was not being given a game by Stan Seymour in the 50s - a fee of 30k was turned down by Newcastle. Milburn was restored as Seymour saw 10,000 or so floating supporters joining him.

Many a NE player came home and took great delight in beating both Sunderland and Newcastle.

TVI - you don't know how much it hurts to even think of the bloke.

Let's just say he was supposed to be one of the best managers of the day, but managed to get us relegated to the third tier of football for the first, and hopefully last, time.

Trust me, that's all you need to know.

To put into full focus - Mcenemy was born in Gateshead and we got him signed up just ahead of MUFC and England. Had been a good coach at Sheff W, manager at Grimsby Town and Southampton who won FA cup under him and manager of England U23 team. Did nothing after he left us.

Tedious, isn't it? What do you think he (they) gets out of it? Beats me.

Considering the lads been with us since he was 10 then yup think he would and should play for us, sorry Tony but IMO he is starting to push in to the first team even with a fully fit team

Syd - based on this extraordinary post from you (it surprised me) means that nobody outside of Sunderland can support SAFC - are you really Big Chris in disguise :emoticon-0105-wink:

A significant percentage of our fan base comes from South Tyneside, who are Geordies by the way..But somehow I think you realise that already..
