Liverpool may look to sign 23-year-old Sampdoria winger Jonathan Biabiany, who has spent this season on loan at Parma, in the summer. Full story: Caught Offside Huh? easily taking the piss this. Ok he was at Inter but he is not that great, and just has loads of pace. Would rather someone more creative and has an end profuct than him.
That is a bit harsh on Carroll and Henderson - they are works in progress to be fair to them and they are both improving. I will accept that Adam is a squad player and the jury is still out on Downing - his form has been nothing short of completely indifferent throughout the season. Perhaps it would have picked up if a couple of his woodwork shakers had snuck in... The problem is how to entice the better players to the club. If you accept Andy and Jordan are for the future, rather than the immediate, that in itself is a statement of intent (that we're prepared to spend big for the future, not just the now), and you look at some of the work Comolli did at the Spuds (signing Bale and Assou-Ekotto - two top drawer players now), we have reasons to be optimistic. Chuck into the mix the wretched form of Arsenal and Chelsea recently and that we're still in touching distance of 4th, and we have to be pretty content after the debacle of the end of Rafa's reign and the horrid six months of Woy...
Well, on the plus side, his stats are better than Downing's in terms of games to goals and games to assists. He's never played with the big boys (excepting a half season last season with Inter, playing sub in 14 games - a total of 710 minutes and 4 assists), rather at Palma and Sampdoria, and with Modena in Serie B. He is obviously younger than Downing and would likely be cheaper than Downing. Although you talk about his end product and a lack of creativity, they can at least be worked on. You can't coach pace into someone's game.... Not saying yes, not saying no, but lets be honest, its CaughtOffside...
I watch a lot of Seria A ( only other league that FSC shows!) and I would have Armero from udinese over Biabiany if we are looking at pace. Everyone knows about Lavezzi, I would take Miccoli as well ( age doesn't help him with us though). Elia we missed the boat on at Juve, but I can see why with babel not working out. I would also take Zuniga over him, even thought Zuniga is more of a WB that LW/LM/RM/RW he can play there though.
Saw that. Very bizarre. Would still take him! As in, take him into the Liverpool side. Nothing else. Anyway.
Totally agree with you to be honest. I wasn't saying Henderson and Carroll won't ever be good enough, just that they are a bit short at the minute (although obviously you would be hard pushed for someone to say Carroll at £35m was a good deal but lets not go into the reasons for that eh). I actually see Henderson in similar light as I did Lucas, a player that has the energy and willingness to get stuck in but needs time to grow and mature. Lucas was back-up to Alonso and Mascherano but still got plenty of game time to develop, Henderson has been thrown in the deep end which means he is more in the spotlight and open to criticism. I think he will become a good player, hopefully fantastic like Lucas! Carroll's impact and development depends on the rest of the team. He needs support and service, IMO he is a confidence player too so a run of games with a couple of goals thrown in should do him the world of good. He still needs time to develop though. We clearly agree on Adam. Downing is very frustrating for me. He started of fairly well (opening five or six games) but seemed to drop of the radar come the derby match once a couple of tackles went in. He has done well in a couple of cup games but then disappears again come the league. He was bought for his assists yet fails to beat the first man majority of the time. Credit where credit is due, his shooting is pretty good (apart from one on one chances) and he has been unlucky by hitting the woodwork on a couple of occasions, also had a few saved too. When tracking back he is putting the effort in but then trying too hard to impress by making ludicrous sliding challenges that are nowhere near the ball. Obviously, I want him to succeed as I do with all players (including Poulsen and Konchesky when they were here) but just don't see it happening. Basically, I would like to see us sign a player or two for the now in the summer, players that will push us to another level. However, I am a patient person and I am aware that Kenny builds his teams from back to front so since the defense seems pretty solid, hopefully the attack will be next anyway?
Some rumours about a Portsmouth youth player have surfaced... Source: http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/live...portsmouth-starlet-sam-magri-100252-30364524/ Nice to see us continuing to look at the youth! Sam has played for England Under 16's, Under 17's & Under 18's. Also very highly-rated down at Pompey and with their financial situation what it is, they could be forced to cash in. Will be following this story and seeing if it goes any further. Good luck to Sam in his trial!
http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11669/7538382/Texeira-dismisses-Suarez-talk David Texeira who was roumoured to be joining us has said it's too early for him to join such a big club like Liverpool.
Not really addressing the striking part, but if this were to happen, ****ing depth! Would love this... Liverpool are lining up summer spending spree with moves for Athletic Bilbao midfielder Javi Martinez, 23, Barcelona's Mali midfielder Seydou Keita, 32, and Lille's 21-year-old Belgian playmaker Eden Hazard. Can;t say too much about this next one.... Liverpool will watch FC Basel midfielder Granit Xhaka in action for Switzerland this week, after director of football Damien Comolli received glowing reports on the 19-year-old starlet.
Wouild be nice to get Martinez or Keita but I don't think we need both. I have not seen this Hazrad guy play too much but any time I have he has been poor maybe he just has bad games when I watch. I read somewhere the other day that that Mexican kid Marco Bueno is joining in April when he turns 18 after we signed him on a pre contract last summer.
The Gaston Ramirez one isn't going away either, and I like that we are looking at some playmakers, but still feel we need a finisher. Could maybe do with another RB possibly? Defense seems OK actually and I know we have good youth coming up.
Ramirez look's very good we should go after him and a poaching striker. I keep thinking we need a winger and then I think of Sterling he has to brought into the team by next season at the latest.
Sterling has to be making the breakthrough soon. Not saying he will light the prem up but he needs the experience.
I'd love someone like Lavezzi. Pace, real pace. Technique, audacity, scares the **** out of defenders.
Liverpool are keeping tabs on Colombian striker Jackson Martinez but face competition from Porto to sign the highly-rated international, according to reports in Portugal. The 25-year-old plays for Mexican side Jaguares Chiapas, but is available to leave if any club meets the £4.17m (€5m) asking price. And Liverpool are reportedly weighing up making a bid, with their scouts having become regulars at Jaguares matches. But Portuguese newspaper A Bola claim that Porto are also on Martinez's trail and could look to strike first to seal a deal for the forward.
PSG want Suarez this summer? PARIS St Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has admitted the club are interested in signing Liverpool striker Luis Suarez this summer. It emerged last month that the big-spending French outfit, who are bankrolled by the Qatar Investment Authority, had placed Suarez on their list of targets.http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/live...uis-suarez-from-liverpool-fc-100252-30476144/
With the Juve x Bologna game today, I would def take Gaston Ramirez and Di vaio from Bologna ( di vaio too old I think) and Eljero Elia who was linked with us continues to sit the bench at Juve, hmmm is it babel syndrome or is he not getting a shot?
