Don - they all still quote VLV at 4/1 2nd fav and that one will not go for the Mares, expect a further shortening when they finally realise that her biggest rivals will be a couple of handicappers rated mid to upper 130s...
Ha ha, yes Grizz. Ive already got a hell of alot riding on her...... you reckon she will go off shorter than 4/7?
I think come the day people will look at her competition and realise that whatever price she is, she should be shorter. On form she should be 1/3 shot, at the moment some will say her lack of a run might be a negative which is why she's holding at 4/6, three weeks tomorrow she'll be 1/2 or shorter. Only thing that could change that is if Hurricane Fly runs like a pig and every Mullins horse in the first five races looks lifeless
Unlikely to do any more Ante Post but so far; H Fly & Long Run double 9-4 and 5-2. Zkndr (bfair hrdle) & Simonsig (neptune) 4-1 & 14-1. Dildar (Triumph) 12-1. Sea of Thunder 14-1 & 16-1 in (albert bartlett) - can only see it shorten as can see one or both of the market leaders heading to the neptune so may be tempted to keep dabbling (14-1 at lbrks).
Hold On Julio misses the Racing Plus Chase and will now head straight to Cheltenham for the JLT Speciality Chase (the old William Hill Chase on the Tuesday) <cough> protecting handicap mark <cough>
Yep I saw that, King spent all last season running Bensalem over hurdles to protect his chase mark so he has form ! This one might go against all the National trends but he could be thrown in on 10st 7lb for that race too...
Couple of loose predictions here based on market observations of the past two weeks: I think Pearl Swan will go to the Supreme Novice, Dodging Bullets will go to the Triumph as Nicholls' main hope, and I think Willie Mullins will send Simenon to the Supreme despite his comprehensive defeat to Trifolium. I think a hustle and bustle, lightning pace will suit that horse in the Supreme, as will better ground, but we will see. The RSA is intriguing now. Possibility of Invictus' jumping clashing with the unbeaten Grands Crus and perhaps even Sir Des Champs if Gigginstown listen to Willie Mullins.
I’m really surprised by this pick as I think Medermitt should be running in the CGC rather than the Ryanair and given his recent runs and Alan King’s comments a week or so ago about this horse ‘crying out for 3 miles’ think it may well happen. Hopefully they will go for the real race rather than some ‘intermediate’ heat.
Sorry, Beffy. My head is hung in shame but you can rest assured that I will make the necessary amendments.
This would indicate, without yet reading the piece, that the Ryanair is still the target. Segal would obviously talk to connections before making his selection and would be loather to put up a non-runner.
