Morning Ellandback - I guess this is the first real test for Warnock, we have seen Grayson given no money and his freebies left a nasty after taste more often than not. Will Warnock fair better, will he be able to bring in someone who will make a difference or are we going to be moaning next season about carrying even more dead wood. Looking at his stats I would say better than Forssell but better than the soon returning Somma, McCormack and Becchio? How long is it going to take him to get match fit, we have seen what a missing few months has done to Becchio, I dread to think what a whole season plus some might have done to Webber....
Morning Ristac I wouldnt read to much into the Webber link, although they will probably want him of there books! The thing Warnock will bring is organisation. I can see him packing the midfield to support the deffence & draw us in a bit rather than stretching teams. He will take a lot of pressure of the players as well, its what he does best & to be honest theres been far to many times in this league where we have looked scared to play at Elland Road, that has got to & will change
Morning Bucks - I am excited about what Warnock will bring to the team in the way of his management skills. Just as much as signing a new player I would like to hear that Paynter, Forssell, Mika, Parker and even Bromby have all moved on sooner rather than later. I still do not believe we have any realistic chance of going up this season and it would be a pleasant change for us to have a few new faces in close season and actually start our preseason fixture list with everyone in place. We know Bates isn't going to throw money at it so one of the priorities has to be reducing the wage bill and having 18 squad players who are decent and not going to cost us a game. I am not saying we only want 18 players but 18 who can easily start a game and probably another 6 promising players pushing for a break through.
Anyone hear about Dalphs interview after the Birmingham match (when he got man of the match presented in the directors bit) Question asked "whats the difference between Leeds and Aston Villa?" He replied, "at Villa we do not carry any extra pounds" and when asked what he meant he said "Lucciannos carrying a few extra pounds" And "at Villa we arent allowed to drink up to 4 days before a game" very blunt comments but really does explain a lot, Christmas period are players where always pissed under Grayson lets hope Warnock instills professionalism
couldn’t agree more. I have been quick to write this season off as well, but 14 games is a long time! A decent run now could see us reverse last season where we dropped out of the top six rather than crashed it. That being said, I think Neil will take stock & improve us & will be aggressive enough to cull our deadwood ready for a go next season. Looking at the potential teams coming up or going down it could well make for an easier league. Whats Warnock like with Blooding youngsters? I like your idea of having the squad supported by a core bunch of hungry youngsters (what wont be paid a lot!) if there up for it & lets face it, Thompson & Lees have looked good enough this season.
