Sounds disgusting. Spent a fortnight touring America and I reckon the only decent meal I had was in an Italian restaurant. Everything else was too big and looked better than it tasted. Had soup in two different restaurants that looked and tasted like boiled water with desiccated veg. After a while I realised that you would get tastier food in almost any British pub. I will now stand back whilst you all describe the best food in the world that you had in the USA!

For me it has to be the cheese board with a nice drop of vintage port.

Breakfast in an American Diner takes some beating. The rest of their food though was more than disappointing. I actually lost weight when I was in New York and like Fran the only food I would eat was Italian. I did have one good chinese meal sat in a restaurant full of New York's finest.

Steak you cannot beat a nice bit of steak in America,Hung for 28 days i had a 48oz porterhouse in shula's restaurant in orlando and ate every bit, or a nice steak in Smith and wolensky's in New York or Vegas, absolutely mouth watering, but i have to say they aint got a clue about vegetables.

Breakfast was OK in America but never tasted as good as it sounded in the menu. Liked pancakes but usually ate two and left four...why is everything so big? Had a smoked salmon sandwich in an Irish pub which would have been OK if it wasn't three inches thick. New York was disappointing but had a fantastic meal in a restaurant run by a real Italian. He couldn't bear to turn anyone away and as it got busier we all had to shove up and make room...actually great fun with lots of laughter and good service.

When I went to NY I ordered a slice of pizza as a snack. Not realising how big the slice was, I ended up with about a foot and half long pepperoni pizza slice
