http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17090404 In an interview Alex Ferguson regrets not signing Joe Hart at an earlier age and says he will most likely be England goalkeeper for years to come.
The lad's already one of the best in Europe. There's room for improvement, but I can't see him being dislodged for at least 10 years.
It just goes to show what an over-rated spotter of talent SAF is/was. Anyone could see that Joe Hart was an exceptional talent and it took even Pearce/Flowers long enough to make up their minds.
Looks like we've uncovered ANOTHER gem of a keeper in Callum Burton, too! Someone Fergie would do well to keep tabs on.
whats the point in selling players if we can see the money regenerated back into improving the team!! ....
His hand was in front of the path of the ball, which deflected it away from goal. That cough medicine you keep taking is not working Rocky please log in to view this image
our great little club has brought on some great players of the future, yes some of the money raised should be ploughed back into the playing staff, but i caution this club is well run and only made a small profit of 20k out of a large turnover, so we occasionally have to sell to keep the club running. any fool director could run shrews like portsmouth plymouth port vale or rangers etc, but no, look how well the shrews are run and managed, all run on a shrew string. now cast a glance at the league table and puff your chests out with pride at our position, no matter what the result tonight, and when shrews take swindle apart tonight it may be-catch us if you can!!. may i refill your hip flask rowland?
well AJ we have had this argument so many times....there is a cut off point between being prudent and over spending,Rowland is just down right tight as ducks bottom...i cant puff my chest out until we get out the BOTTOM rung of this ladder, we have a 6000 gate compared to say Torquay's 2500 and they are right there still with us, if we are going to spend anything now is the time to do it, just ahead of the big push!!...im not saying throw money at everything, but surely there must be enough in the kitty to pay a little better wages and entice better quality players.
'(Spend now), just ahead of the big push?! Do you really think clubs sell their better players in Feb/March time? And remember, we are right up there with the likes of Swindon & Crawley..
How does Torquay attract the players? It can't be the wages as they have to live by the same wage cap as all other teams in L2. Don't forget Cheltenham are a similar club to us, stuck out in the Welsh Marches and I assume they don't get a huge gate every week.
yes Swindon and Crawley who have delved into the transfer window, both have spent big bucks on players and its the remaining games that it will start to show
some of us prefer a tight ducks arse to business than some other clubs in or about to enter admin. i am merely seeking to praise what has been acheived on the business side of things by the directors and the brilliant results brought by the squad and management. i have no doubt that given towns league position, if gt wants money, it will be made available. however it is more likely to be available at the end of the season. if gt wanted the squad strengthening surely it would have been done in january. results indicate the squad did not need a cash injection, but gt will need to re jig the squad when we are promoted. it has not been helpful that for most of the season we have played with one hand tied behind us because of a shy attack with 1 noble exception. but other players have stepped forward to fill that gap. when every player has luck on their side we will marmalise the opposition, er starting tonight! floreat salopia, prudence et porto!
