He got a good assist to.

And at one point done a great sprint and tackle Steven Gerrard style.

A pretty damn decent result <ok> Ok we should be beating Championship teams but Cup upsets happen so I'll take a 6-1 any day...certainly a good way to go into a cup final.

Carroll was better, Skrts is playing really well, Downing might just take a bit of confidence from today, Charles played decent as did Stevie G and Luis looked sound as a pound <ok> not perfect....but 6-1 when you don't play perfect football really can't be sniffed at.

Now for a walk down Wemberleeeeee way :D

I like Gus after his defending of Suarez. Quality guy.

Played well today. The difference between the two halves was not that we kept the ball better in the second, it was that we used the ball better. Adam had a decent game today spraying balls all over the field.

    Without trying to be to negative I have two criticisms;

    1. The entire right side of midfield was none-existent. Henderson drifted in the whole game and Johnson hardly got down the flank at all. Nothing to major but I think it ruined the balance of the team in the first half.

    2. Getting players in the box. Again, this was mainly in the first half but neither Gerrard or Adam got beyond the front 2 enough, Adam played a lot further forward for Blackpool and he really flourished. He's not defensively disciplined enough to play as a deep play maker, he's at his best when he surges forward and you just don't see enough of that from him.

A very good positive though, Carroll for me has turned a corner. Slowly but surely he's growing in to the team and adapting to how we play, his touch has improved, his work rate has improved and he's linking up with players all over the field. He isn't as effective in the air at the moment which is weird, but nothing to concerning.

A final and a quarter-final coming up and a scrap for fourth-spot in the league. Still a lot to play for unlike last season, and that for me shows how far we have come. <ok>

    re:noble...

sometimes i agrre with you sometime i don't... BUT I only want us to keep doing better so i think i can have an opinion on where we can do better <ok>

re: suarez taking the pen.. they guy was ajax taker and takes pens for uraguay too, he should do better... both kuyt and adam have missed pens all year too... I expect ebtte rthan a little delay and hope the keeper falls over effort. gerrard shows the way in just putting wehre you want and not worrying about supenmen keepers.. If gerrard keeps smashing them itno the bottom corner at pace the rest can learn their lesson.

Kuyt is top top pen taker but hasn't in form earlier in fairness to him, adam has looked out of sorts on all set pieces but you have to say he hit a few nice ones yesterday...

I'd hope if the worst come to the worst and we end up in pens next weekend we practise burying them in the bottom corner and not worrying about tricking keepers....

Again i said line one last night should be very plased with that... there are a few things to improve on for next week but bring agger in should help that. we played a deliberate tactic with henderson doing a lot of running for the team yesterday, thats why RM was vacant. I'd prefer carroll to go up top cos he was dropping in midfield to stand and watch hendo show the way and every break he was labouring to get i the box! still he got free for that header (should have scored), pillaged a nice goal from downing after their full back dived in and set up suarez nicely... in the box andy is a different player.

Nice comment in the local Brighton newspaper from a Brighton fan that had been to yesterday's game.

    Portlock Seagull says...

Just back from anfield. We've had a great day out. Liverpool are a class club, been brilliant hosts, their fans humility at our hammering is so refreshing and we even chatted with jimmy case. Now he's a proper legend. At both clubs!

Chin up boys, even Dalglish thought the score was a bit of an unfair reflection. Just learn some lessons from it (eg dont juggle 2 metres from the goal line!) We're out the cup but a great day out all the same.

And stop feeding the trolls everyone! They probably didn't go and of course if you only watched on the tele you won't have enjoyed the convoys on the way up, the banter with the reds fans, the walk on pre march song that is just awe inspiring and the all round history and tradition that anfield just stinks of! Certainly no shame going out to them after seeing the FIVE European cups in the kop museum!!!

Credit to the brighton boys, long journey great atmos despite the score and a manager I think's pretty cool <ok> a bad day at the office for the team but their fans seemed to be loving it anyway.

Ok, I only saw the match on a feed but it didn't seem as though the Brighton supporters were vile. What do you expect them to do?

Somebody posted a piece (can't remember which thread) from one their fans who was at the match saying how much they enjoyed the visit and how well they were received by our fans. Think I'll stick with that reaction

I for one expected them to enjoy thier day, cheer their team and not get into something that didn't involve them.

they sung you know what you are, which is a deliberate thing to avoid accusations of being vile by not singing racist... to me they were deliberate i nthat and they booed every touch and cheered any mistake or tackle made... ergo while i might feel a little sorry for them they got about double the space any other team ever gets at anfield and bascially did that.

I think there's a case for some of it being banter... like singing you'll be sold i nthe summer at carroll.. i don't mind a bit of that just like evra shouldn't mind a few booes either!... but when you get specific then you lose any rights to being called cleaner than clean.

By all means if you want to get at our best player have a few booes, nobody should mind but in the end it's got to stop eventually before england becomes a no go area for players.... the tax is bad enough <laugh>
