Brilliant article. Couple of minor points that could be addressed but overall a very well researched and well written piece. Someone should circulate it to every sports hack in Scotland, starting with Darrell King and Shug Keevins
Yeah, it's a hefty one but it makes a few decent points. The stuff about Aberdeen making more money from 4 home games in the UEFA Cup than the 4 games at Pittodrie against Celtic & Rangers was eye-opening. As you say these media ****s will ignore it. It's in their best interests to keep the Huns afloat.
The only people I can see suffering from Rangers getting hammered, apart from Rangers themselves, are the redtops
...and I tried to post it before that It's very erudite - particularly the wife beating bit Naw, seriously, I think it's the best written thing on the whole situation I've found anywhere
How many times in the previous 15 years have Aberdeen got to the knockout stages, or even the group stages of the UEFA Cup/Europa league? How many times have they done it since?
You see the difference between this and the ****e that Waddell spouted? This person backs up him claims with statistics and evidence. No hyperbole and no need for the sort of borborygmus that spouts forth from poorly educated sports hacks like Gordon Waddell.
Part of the point in the blog is that Scottish football, historically, has always been at its strongest whilst one of the OF<hock-too> teams is struggling. Recent events seem to have borne that out - Celtic and Rangers were arguably at their collective strongest between 2001 and 2005 in recent times - exactly as the rest of Scottish football was awful.
I agree, but your trophy haul will be null and void and merely a stat for the record books, give it 10 or 15 years and Celtic will have overhauled it without resorting to financial doping.
but we had an absolute ball during 9 in a row not to mention the 3 helicopter sundaes. yours will be as boring as ****. nae luck
Yes i'm sure we will be as bored as your fans were when you were winning 9IAR, only one way to find out so we'll put it to the test.
Very well researched and thought out. All makes absolute sense and explains why Rangers fans are in fear. I've made most of these points in the past and even suggested that the collapse of Rangers may be for the better of scottish football.
That's the point the author is making With Rangers and their ridiculous spending over the last few years it's been difficult for the likes of Aberdeen and Dundee Utd to compete. With a weakened Rangers, they have a better chance of qualifying for Europe and progressing further in cup competitions. This leads to more fans coming to the games and increased revenue. In reality, Scottish football would actually be better off without Rangers
good for you. now that you've been caught with your hands in the till and are as corrupt as Robert Maxwell you can now **** off and take your punishment. As Sone Aluko said on twitter before the game with Killie "no surrender". Quality, absolute quality
