Thanks for everything Niall, Look at where the club was when you first came to where it is now. A truely fantastic achievement. Had you not come along I dread to think where we would be. This is a sad day for Sunderland in my opinion as you brought so much to the club. A stand should be named in your honour. Thanks Niall, All the best.
Definitely, at the very least. Build a statue. Start a religion of Quinnism. Just name sunderland Quinnland. Start a revolution, establish him as the High Ruler of the UK. I know they're only small gestures, I can't think of anything that would be big enough right now, I'll get back to you on that.
I like the fact that when he first took over he couldnt find a suitable manager so said 'b*llocks....I'll do it!!!!' One of few footballing men who deserve their lifestyle due to hard work and passion whilst sprinkling it with humility and a sense of humour!
He'll be sadly missed. But we should all be more than grateful for his contribution, he set the club on a road that looks as tho it could give us a great future to look forward to. Thanks, he is a gent and a superstar.
Chunky, he said when he first took over he'd be here for 5 years. I don't think they's been any arguments or falling out's. It was always going to happen in the near future given his new role. He's obviously worked on the sponsorship deal which seems to be complete and what else is they for him to do? Hopefully he'll get a send off on the pitch at the next home game. It's the least the bloke deserves.
honorary vice president, becoming president when Murray croakes and of course totally agree about stand name
I think he's left because he's done what he'd set out to achieve, we're now (potentially) challenging for Europe with a top-class manager, top-class facilities and a very decent side.
How much respect can one football person get? Can you see anyone from the current generation of footballers ever commanding the type of respect that Niall has from his fans? The Niall Quinn stand - Definitely - hope Mr Short does something like this. True gentleman - one of my fondest memories of him was drinking during the close season in Sedgefield with my mates and Bumping into him and his missus (absolute fox!!) and getting a bit craic going - he bought me and my 6 mates 2 rounds of drinks and sat and talked football for about 2 hours - and he knew his football. One of the few modern day football people that can be called "Legend".
Anyone got any idea how we start a campaign? Facebook page? Petition ALS? Thank you Quinn. We will NEVER forget you.
