That's my favourite too! I keep meaning to try the noodle bar, where you have to wait while they cook for you, but I'm just too greedy and load up on that and the chicken satay. You are right too it is like a canteen, but I think it offers something different. Another good place just around the corner on the lower level is Zizzi which does great Calzone pocket pizzas.
Spot on Fran. I used to love watching those "Two Fat Ladies on a Motorcycle" cooking. They used to remind me of my mother - red nail varnish, fingers full of rings, smoking a *** and drinking a glass of scotch while preparing food for her hungry hoard of children.
I'm a bit worried Godders though, as you implied it may not be true that you can't eat and then swim. Its well known that a full stomach carries you directly to the bottom of the pool. Don't tell me that we were misled.
It always puzzled me that everytime we got up from the table my mother used to say "Now children remember you must not go swimming for at least an hour." The only place we could have gone swimming was in the Thames and I could never fathom out why she should think we would want go swimming in it in the middle of bloody winter!
I can remember sitting by The Lido in Portsmouth arguing with my mother that a paste sandwich and an icecream wasn't a heavy meal and I didn't have to wait an hour. After listening to my whining she would reduce it to 30 min..probably didn't care if I drowned by then
Oh Godders I can confirm that I did Google suet, right after I miraculously found the answers to the coursework that I hadn't done yet on Wikipedia (and therefore certainly correct), such are the wonders of the internet. As for suet, I suppose you'll be telling me it tastes better than it sounds.
Not to budge in on StG's ground here, but you can get vegetable suet too and it amounts to the same thing. It does the same job anyway, though I'm sure the purist would tsk tsk.
Suet dumplings are lovely with a stew, but virtually the same thing can be served with jam and custard. You can't do that with pizza.
This thread is making me put on weight. It must be the most calorific thread yet. If someone would like to start a keep fit thread, I'd join...just not today...
Warm choc fudge cake with ice cream for me. Although it was all about the artic roll when I was a nipper. Washed down with um-bongo if it was Mum's pay day!
Home made lemon tart or tarte au citron if you're feeling all Jonny Foreigner. With raspberries from the garden and cream from Daisy
We went to the Bay of Naples a few years ago, St G. What did you make of the old mill under the bridge? Pompeii blew my mind, but then I would say that.
