Jesus sometimes you guys are thick!

If I say someone is CAPABLE of being the best Ipswich manager SINCE Bobby Robson then that means he is CAPABLE of emulating or bettering what George Burley and John Lyall achieved on the basis that we are now more of a goal threat than I can recall at any time in the last 25-30 years SINCE Sir Bobby left. Thank you.

As for Joe Royle he had no money but inherited a brilliant squad.

Sorry Yorkie but you can't make a sweeping comment like that based on winning 4 games in a row! <doh>

We have scored 50 goals so far but have conceded 57, Cardiff have scored 50 goals but have only conceded 36! We know that our defence has been the reason for our failure this season and Jewell must take the blame for not sorting it out properly in the summer when he had the chance. Most of his signings have been duds and if it wasn't for the emergence of the younger players we would now be in deep trouble. Like I say we are now performing DESPITE Jewell being in charge not because of anything that he has done. The changes he has made have been forced on him and the only credit we can give him is that he hasn't tinkered in the last few games! <ok>

We have been playing good football for a while now not just in the four victories so i think if we can keep it up it will give us a good basis to build on next season, on the subject of Hyam i think it is far too early to think about burdening him with the captaincy and i'm sure if his current form continues he will earn a longer contract in the same way the Cresswell did, i think this is good management of young players teaching them that if they perform they will benefit and not just give them high wages and long contracts straight of the bat leaving the club stuck with them if they don't cut it (Dean Bowditch styley).

It is nice to see us playing good football consistantly for the first time for a long while and IMO Lee Martin is leading by example and taking alot of responsibility and showing his class.

Its the differing views that make this site worthy of a visit IMO a good run does not make a good manager but also a bad run does not make a bad one.

Don't worry JWUM we know your not a WUM.......................

JWM tad hypocritical there, maybe a bit or a lot, about the growing up part I mean. Perhaps you're not a WUM but a WUitfcptcM??

It strikes me that if Jewell won the PL with Ipswich, you would still not rate him!! For me there's many things you can criticise Jewell for, along with Magilton, Royle & Burley, there's many things which I have criticised them over but it doesn't mean that I think they should get the sack. Every single manager makes questionable decisions, unfortunately in this day and age this means fans want managers out after a few bad results, although admittedly we had more than a few. I'm not saying you should think Jewell is the best thing since sliced bread but your arguments are never balanced they're just black and white!!

You make some good points with regard to Hyam and Drury but to say Jewell deserves no credit for the run we are on is just wrong. The form that Martin and Chopra are showing is down to good management by Jewell, in knowing when to put an arm round them and when to drop them out of the team. And also the form which Murphy and JET are showing is great. All of those 4 players about a month ago were complete write offs in the eyes of most people on this site.

Its good to see a team evolving for a change, we haven't had this in ME's era. I think the club are learning from their mistakes of the Keane and partly the Magilton era, I think we now need a period of continuity.

As for Hyam, a potential future captain but not atm. Hopefully the club will review things over the summer and offer him a longer contract, along with Martin and Drury if their form continues. I generally like how Jewell has handled the contract situation, like with Cresswell, he deserved a better contract and got one. I hope to see Carson sign a new contract but something appears to be wrong with his attitude this season compared to last, I don't know the ins and outs but hopefully like with many players this season he will just knuckle down and work his way back into the team and be better for it.

I'd also give Smith a one year contract. Scotland a 1 year and Edwards, although I expect they are on high wages so this could effect the final decision, I'd like to see them in and around the team next season but more as squad players and experience, gradually fazing them out of the team. Also although I'm not the biggest fan of Sonko, perhaps he should be given a 1 year contract or we could well have another summer like the last where we don't have any CB's and have to take a gamble on whats out there. It will give us a base and some continuity for next season rather than like last season having to bring in alot of players as quickly as possible.

Warky I don't think it was entirely down to the defenders. Now you have Hyam in there he protects the defence, Leadbitter was always a liability and would give the ball away in dangerous areas and invite pressure on.

Gareth McAuley left a big hole in our backline and Jewell was never going to be able to replace him properly with the contract nonsense that goes on with Clegg.

It's worth noting that a lot of the players who are performing so well now were signed or brought into the team by Roy Keane.

I stick by the fact that at no time under John Lyall did I see the likes of Ian Marshall, Chris Kiwomya being able to murder the sides put in front of them the way we are at the moment. Burley's team much more so but we haven't had a decent striker at this club since Bent left and finally now we look to have serious attacking options. Yes it's a little spell and it may go tits up but we look to have momentum and a solid foundation.

I am delighted with how well the team has performed over the last 4 games and long may it continue. I just feel that this is not down to Jewell being in control of events but events being in control of him!

The trouble is and you guys wont like me for saying this but Ipswich could easily lose the next 4 games as well. There seems to be no consistency in your results and performances this season (obvious I know).

Nice to see Spanish and Ciderman posting in tandem again.

    People will talk gentlemen.....

It is good that you disagree but credit to you for not answering with an animal bothering or inbreeding response that we get from most of your knuckle dragging posters.
