That third own goal was comedy gold! especially the slo-mo behind the goal camera, you should have seen the lads face as it comes off his knee, he knows its all gone wrong ;-) We have to thank Brighton for playing football and being lambs to the slaughter, most other teams have come here and parked the bus, and so we have as many draws as we have at home. Tis amazing what we can do playing against four defenders and not nine! In the next round, I can see Stoke parking the bus and going all out for a replay at their inbred pit, where, like with the league cup, we can then beat them, since they will need to do more than defend with every man. I love the cup.
The 2nd OG wasn't even an OG..ball was going in and practically over the line anyway. Glad to see the lads take the opposition seriously. Same again for Wembley.
Excellent performance from the boys, both Big Andy and Luis played well ,I thought Skrtel was prob MOM though, he was immense AGAIN.Dont think there was anyone who had a bad game
Supposedly an own goal is only given if the scorer diverts a shot/header thats going wide or over the bar into his own net. so your right.
just want to say ok we should be VERY happy to be i nthe 6th round with a home draw and against a team that with due respect we know we can beat at home. I also would like to say i cannot wait for the repeat potters banter on that match thread.... but a few things must be said. 1. we defended way way too deep and as a result brighton could know it about... that's for me down to both lines of 4 being too deep, though henderson burst himself running and chasing.... was this due to carragher playing? 2. annoyed at the wall, annoyed at reina seeing that free late as i left they should never have scored. 3. carroll, really needs to barrel that guy over in the box or crunch him rather than whinging and i was annoyed he missed his best change from a header that he should have scored... he did well for his goal and set up suarez late on which is great.... brighton head went. 4. that last OG, that was stupid.. you have to feel for the kid who let in two as he was last ditch defending and one was hit off him by his own man who should have been heading up and away.. the guy who put the third in should paper bag it. 5. suarez pen miss... thick... stop messing and take them properly! god.. so annoying to not just power it home. 6. brighton, big crowd we gave a lot of tickets to them and they enjoyed it for a while... they did get "personal" with suarez so take that! karma 7. finally at least we filled the crowd unlike Sunderland who may as well just drop out of the comp if that's the level of interest. Overall, chuffed but brighton scored 4... I hope we win the final that easy now...
Gerrard and Adam is one of the laziest CM partnerships - ever since we lost Lucas, we don't press quick enough and we invite pressure. Against better teams, they will punish us. Suarez was a lot more effective in the second half when he dropped deeper and got onto the ball more often. I'm happy Kenny started him because I was afraid there may have been some repercussions from the Man Utd game. It shows the manager still supports him, and even gave the lad a chance to score from the penalty spot.
Gerrard is just coming back from a long term injury, give the guy a chance, he was much more mobile today.

Greetings, AH. Evening all. I just managed to catch the second half as I've been house/dog sitting. Luckily it appears that I caught the best half and didn't miss too much - although I would have liked to have seen the Brighton goal, as I heard it was a corker. My thoughts were that we appeared fairly solid, and I was happy to see that Downing and Carroll were both still improving. Also, I'm glad Suarez got a goal quickly after missing the penalty. The second cup front is going well. Tough home game against Stoke, but hopefully we can turn them over and get a little further along the path towards a second final.
Evening CCC,At least your outta the doghouse now mate. I agree and hope we're on our way to our 2nd final of the season.
Yeah, that'd be great, PMK. The bookies have Tottenham as the favourites, being the highest-placed team still in it, but watching their game against Stevenage I think they'll have to wind it up a notch or two or they may find themselves out of it.
I had a cheeky look at the odds for the F.A Cup outright earlier and we are now joint favorites! Currently 5/2 with Spurs. Chelsea out at 7/2 with Everton & Sunderland at 7/1 & 8/1 respectively. Looking good for us according to William Hill. Still got a lot of work to do though!
Thought was a very professional performance. Firsy half was ok, but maybe slightly lucky to go in ahead but second half we were very impressive. Thought everyone played well and Carroll had another good game to go with his last 3 or 4. He's really starting to show a bit more effort now which is good to see. I still find it unbelieveable at the amount of pushing and holding that defenders get away with on him though. I'd love to see the ref sit and watch that after the game and explain how they aren't fouls. My only negative was with Kenny saying Suarez should take the pen. Showed a total lack of respect to Brighton in my opinion. The game was won yes, but we have 2 pen takers in Adam & Kuyt both of whom were on the pitch and they should have taken it. Other than that, can't fault the performance.
Very wacky game with the three OG'S and the naked guy. It's certainly not a game I'll forget any time soon. Very organised and confident performance and Suarez and Carroll were both very good.
Kenny signalled to indicate who he wanted to take the pen. He'd have gone for Kuyt but he doesn't have eighteen fingers.
