We would need to bring in a replacement. Our CBs would be Merts, Hummels, Kos, A.N.OTHER, Bartley, Miquel
I wouldn't sell TV, Sagna, Song, Keep Theo as a Super Sub I'd keep Rambo, Vela, mannone, maybe Chammy, and I'd keep Gibbs
Because this is the real world and not a computer game. Selling 16 players in one transfer window. Also how does the '****' Aaron Ramsey fetch £12 Million?
Really. I guess you think a couple of minor tweaks are needed to get us out of our crisis? Perhaps you have a suggestion for the changes we need that you could enlighten us on?
We bought 9 in the last transfer window, and yes £12m for Ramsey - not everyone knows he's ****, and he is young and British which inflates the price.
We definitiely differ on who we think is good enough, and what we would get for some players. Overall whether its £80m or £100m, who cares, we just need to get rid of players that are clogging up our wage bill and have proven themselves either not talented enough, or not made of the right stuff to play at the top level.
Selling Sagna,TV and Song? Three players that have shown their quality time and time again. Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face. Sagna has just returned from serious injury and before it was quality. Needs games. Song needs competition. So buying a top DM will give that and hopefully wake him up. Also him and a new DM as a pair will gives defensive power in tough games. TV needs games at CB again to find form. When he returned from his injury he was getting back to his best then he was shifted to LB.
Its easy to shoot down anyone who actually offers a view - rather like the response when the fans calling for dramatic change and fed up with the lack of character in our team and poor tactis were in the minority.
Song has played some good games, but is inconsistent and has gone missing in big games. Sagna gets beaten too often, and cant corss a ballto save his life - a bit of a draw back when playing a 4-3-3. TV - error prone and injury prone, and above all lacking the composure to be trusted. We do not need more of the same from these guys - we need major change. Not just in ability, but in attitude also.
I think selling the deadwood is a good thing. He is what I think is possible valuation wise: Walcott 12m Gibbs 4m Vela 1m Bendy 4m Denilson 3m Park 0 Chamakh 5m Squillaci 1m Diaby 3m Almunia free Thats about 33m. I think thats a possibility but I doubt we would be able to shift them all in 1 window. If we could get rid of half of them we will of done well.
Out: Walcott Vela Denilson Bendtner Squilliaci Park Chamakh Yossi (End his load Spell) Alumina Getting rid of some of these will not be easy. Finding clubs to take their wages will be a pain but we must do everything to get rid.
I agree. I am pointng out what I believe needs to happen for us to reverse the decline. It shows just how big the mess is at our club.
Wenger tried some of these last summer and it didnt work. Either because wenger/money men were holding out for more money or because we couldnt shift them due to wages.
Maybe if Sagna had a winger in front of him that will cross the ball then the need for him to cross will not be urgent. At his best he is a quality defender and that is what I want in my Right back. TV signed a new long term contract so will not leave anyway. But when again fit and playing in his best role he can be a top defender. Also he is young for a CB. Not reached his peak and needs to play alongside a stable defence which we have not had this season. I will drop Song but not sell him. He needs competition and a new DM will hopefully push Song to another Level. As I said in another thread, M'Villa is that man.
The problem with your list is that you have hardly touched the first team - or their back ups. The same players that have been woeful for so long would still be trotting out week in week out, unless you think some of the first teamers would settle for the bench? Selling the players in your list would not make the slightest difference to our performances and not bring enough cash to truly build a team that could compete.
It would. You dont sell your best players. You buy in better players and either they improve or they will be on the bench.
If we changed our formation then the need for Sagna to be effective at crossing could diminish, but in a 4-3-3 you need to have an overlapping full back. Why settle for a player that isnt good enough in one aspect of his game. Why not find a full back that can defend and cross, and is intelligent enough to know when to stay and when to go? Not easy, granted, but 'incomplete' players in our first team is one of the major issues we have.
