Whist I agree with you, a Spurs team full of squad players should be able to breakdown even the highest quality League 1 side. Disappointing performance but credit to Stevenage; they deserved a draw and deserve the cash injection they will get when they play at WHL, which will almost certainly be televised.
Not the end of the world - totally agree. But it just baffles me when established PL and international players fail to the basics against lower league opposition. Certainly not taking anything away from Stevenage, but they created almost nothing in the last third, yet we never seemed to take any sort of control of the game other than for 10 mins at the start of the 2nd half. At least no obvious injuries picked up other than Rose who looks to have done his calf muscle. Pity, as he had a pretty good game!!
You can rest and rotate players and still keep a balanced and creative side, Notso. The two aren't connected. Awful performance overall. I was worried when I saw the starting line-up, which seemed far too concerned with how Stevenage play. Redknapp needs to have a good think about the balance of our side for the replay. Dawson looked incredibly shaky today, for some reason. He had a similar off-day when we went out of the cup last season, too.
This.Lennon should have started along with Kranjcar,Rose was the only player to cause any problems before Lennon came on.Dawson just decided to lump it forward whenever possible.Defoe was awful. A draw a very fair result.Well played Stevenage.
nerves fear i say this every bloody week...its the business end of the season. the 'quality' of your skills is secondary to mental strength....we need mental strength more in order to get over the line a bit more....play like your bloody bills and food depend on it!!! listening to Roy Keane you can tell why he was a winner.
Looks like an uneeded replay inbetween the Goons and United now. Oh dear, England manager elect mentioning the pitch 10 times!
We were much improved when we went 442. Ohwell, a replay's good for the magic of the cup and for Stevenage and I can't see us losing the replay.
Bizarre system Bale out of position Spent the first half hour hoofing the ball instead of passing it No creativity in midfield until Kranjcar came on in the 64th minute With the exception of Rose and Lennon, nobody taking on the full backs Did we agree to a replay at WHL before kick-off?
I know most of us will be disappointed by that score, but I'll happily take the draw back to the Lane. We were desperately unlucky with our disallowed goal. Had Parker not touched the ball, I could have seen us score a couple more, and our impression of the match would have been very different. A narrow, bobbly pitch, with a high wind, and a very determined, touch Stevenage side - this was always going to be a potential banana-skin for us. I am absolutely certain that it will be a completely different story for the replay.
