I awoke this morning to find the sun shining, Saints on top of the league and PoorOldPompey in the relegation zone and I felt all was right with the world but then I got to thinking. PoorOldPompey are a bunch of cheeky blighters who have been able to get away with murder over the last few years. - They have escaped two winding up petitions. - They have paid players way above what they can afford to pay and revelled in the success this has brought. - They have made no efforts whatsoever to repay debts or to live within their means. - They have had the PM and local MPs wasting time on their predicament when there are more important social and world issues that they should have focused on resolving. - A judge let them continue trading when she said she suspected they had been trading whilst insolvent. - They have blamed everyone else for their problems. - They have been âpunishedâ by two lots of points deductions which look as if they havenât been punished at all as they did not/possibly will not suffer at all as a consequence. - Their owners have misled and possibly even lied to the football authorities. - By not paying their taxes they have increased the tax burden on the rest of us and lost services to the public. - They have been advanced parachute payments by the PL to help them when they have got themselves in a mess. Worst of all the cheeky little blighters now have the nerve to say we need more players and are going to go to the football league for permission to recruit more players to their payroll. If I was the owner of any of the four or five teams in the Championship relegation zone I would be writing to the FL stating in no uncertain terms that Portsmouth have already received more than favourable treatment and that has given them an unfair advantage over great clubs like Forest and Bristol City. To give them any more help would in effect destroy the Championship as a competitive league and would be unfair to the other clubs fighting relegation who have not been so profligate with other people's money. Portsmouth should not be allowed to sign another player until they have got their income and expenditure in balance and have paid back a substantial amount of their debt. Every decent football supporter in the country is fed up to the back teeth with Portsmouthâs abuse of the PLâs and FLâs rules and their callous disregard for small business people and their civic responsibility to pay their taxes like the rest of us. So should they be allowed to sign more players? What do you think?
Said on FLS that they still have PL players on PL wages and made no attempt to sort themselves out after the last period of administration. Not the fans fault, they have been the playthings of various owners with strange agendas. Don't see how the FL can let them sign even loanees when their players haven't been paid. Play the youngsters like we had to do when we were in financial meltdown. Otherwise, it is not fair on other teams, especially those at the bottom.
Yes. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2103169/Barnsley-boss-Hill-Ive-got-sympathy-Pompey.html#ixzz1mllXGnAR
I've said before, I do feel sorry for the fans as I would hate to be in their position....BUT, IMO they should have been deducted 30 points. Nothing to do with trying to keep my beloved club up.....but the fact is they have gainned points from clubs this season with players that they are unable to afford. There are/has been plenty of clubs who have been in a similar situation and to make ends meet, they would have sold off there high earners and try to pay their debts. I feel sorry for all the surrounding buisnesses that has traded with the club that could well go out of business due to not being paid. While the club continues as if nothing has happened.
We(Hull) tried to sign Norris, but Pompey offered double the wages we did, it's no wonder they keep going pop.
You mentioned this below: Portsmouth should not be allowed to sign another player until they have got their income and expenditure in balance and have paid back a substantial amount of their debt. I completely agree and part of those debts are to clubs that they STILL owe money to for players. How on earth they can expect to sign MORE players I do not know. They must be deluded and after all, Appleton knew what he was getting himself into when he joined the cowboys.
i feel sorry for the fans as they deserve better, but the board deserves to be where they are and they shouldn't be allowed to sign anyone until they get there club safe from debt
Can't see them getting many players even if they were allowed. What club would loan a player out and pay 100% of the wages. What if said player was to get injured, would it come out of the parent clubs insurance or Pompey's? If Pompeys then surely their premiums increase which they can't afford anyway!! Seems like they are forever trying to dig themselves out of a hole. Play the youth players, play the bloody kit man and tea lady just don't take the piss out of everyone else by trying to sign more players.
With this Administrator, I really hope he lays bare the underhanded deals, missed payments and other things that these leeches have done that have raped PFC over the years. He should let the authorities know every single sordid detail and hopefully get them prosecuted. Could this be the start of things to come when even more clubs start owning up to their levels of debt, and maybe/hopefully more measures are put in place to stop owners crippling clubs. Yes, PFC owners, Directors etc have really taken the piss over the years, why oh why can't they be made to suffer in the same way they have made their supporters suffer. I must admit I never expected a club like Rangers to go into administration, but, I certainly never expected Pompey to do it twice in as many seasons. It beggars belief!!!
Adronikou (sp?) as administrator almost smelt bad to me. The administrator should be acting on behalf of the club, but I always felt he had another agenda with Pompey second to needs of the previous owners. Glad the judge saw sense.
Surely the administrator should be acting on behalf of the creditors? The interests of the club may be the same (ie continuing to exist, in order to create enough revenue to pay debts).I always felt that AA was too close to the club!
West Brom. The club and the current manager have a very good relationship with Appleton and know what their getting from him when it comes to dealing with their youngters. The personal ties between them might be enough to approve loans where West Brom cover the expense. I wouldn't be surprised if George Thorne's return was a result of this.
When CSI went into administration pompey did not as it was not reliant on them for funding, or so we were told. Now the administrator has announced on BBC that one player who shall remain nameless is on at least £30,000 per week. With the breakeven figure quoted earlier in the season as supposedly gates of 14,000 which has not been achieved in every game and the wages far exceeding the agreed levels how could the club be self supporting and not reliant on payments from CSI on a regular basis so the two are linked and they should have gone into admin in Novenber and not had the past three months of time wasting by chanrai's administrator. This is a dig at those running the club and not the supporters that regularly post on here. the link to the story from the beeb http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17089723
