ok computer radiohead the blue album weezer my two favourite albums I also quite like 'for emma forever ago' by bon iver
Her Majesty > Picaresque > Hazards of Love > Castaways and Cutouts > Crane Wife > King is Dead. I'm right, anyone who says otherwise is wrong.
Quite a variety. The Who - Who's Next The Kinks - Think Visual Madness - Complete Madness Human League - Dare The Jam - Beat Surrender Various - Rave '92 The last one's a completely different genre but there's some stonking sounds on it!
Springsteen: live at austbury park NJ - blinded by the light came off this album Springsteen: born to run : thunder road, born to run. BOWIE : hunky dory there are so many great albums i agree with loads on here theese are just 3 of my favs
I have a very good stamp album, with lots of football themed stamps in it, but as they say philately will get you nowhere.
On the Decemberists, I have Crane wife and the King is Dead, I like both, but prefer the king is dead, its a more complete album for me. However, I now want to check the other albums out. I don't know if anyone has heard of 'Guided by Voices' a lo fi american indie band. I particularly like the album 'under the bushes under the stars' but others I haven't enjoyed so much. Worth a listen perhaps for those that like Bon Ivor? Often really short but sweet songs. For anyone that likes any folk/country, Ryan Adams 'heartbreaker' album is pretty damn good, and some of the stuff he did with Whiskeytown too. Like someone else said I think, Stone Roses 'stone roses' brilliant.
Wow that's awesome! I would love to see her live! Viva La Vida is my favourite simply for amazing masterpiece that is Strawberry Swing, the best song ever written. Also Lovers in Japan is good. Mylo Xyloto's got some good songs on though. Though it's got a lot of 40 second or so tracks! Amazing song Personally I thought Ta Dah was pretty bad. Had two good songs if I remember correctly: Don't Feel Like Dancing and Land of a Thousand Words. Their first album was great though, loads of good songs: Take You Mama, Comfortably Numb, Better Luck, Mary, Return to Oz, It Can't Come Quickly Enough.... Coldplay have a reputation for being dirge like, and some of their songs are quite dirge like however, they've got a lot of very undirge-like songs. For example, Lovers in Japan and Every Tear Drop is a Waterfall both have loads of energy about them. Paradise has a hopeful, uplifting theme to it. Strawberry Swing has a sad nostalgic feel to it (one of the great things about it is how it can be interpreted, at first it might seem like a normal love song, but if you look at it closer at it, it can be seen to be more than just that) but is hardly a dirge. Life in Technicolour ii, another great song with energy and perhaps a slightly nostalgic slant. Another album I like is B*Witched by B*Witched. The singles are all great and the album tracks are pretty good too, such as Rev it Up and Never Giving Up. Admittedly We Four Girls is a bit odd. So's Let's Go (The B*Witched Jig) but I don't listen to that much as it's kind of an introduction track.
Here's a few of mine from the last few decades. I would have to do another list for earlier forms of jazz. Probably be able to think of plenty more:- 1. Miles Davis ~ "Sorcerer" (Miles' 60'squintet was the mut's nuts.) 5. Paul Bley ~ "Tears." 6. Bill Frisell ~"Quartet." 7. Martin, Medeski & Wood ~ Radiolarians Vols 2 &3. 8. John Scofield / MMW ~ "A go go." 9. George Gruntz concert jazz band ~ "Merryteria." 10. Jackie McLean ~ "Let freedom ring." 11. Bobby Hutcherson ~ "Happenings." 12. Herbie Hancock ~ "The piano." 13. William Parker ~ "Luc's lantern." 14. Fred Jackson ~"Hootin' & tootin'." 15. Betty Carter ~ "Feed the fire." 16. Gretchen Parlato ~ Lost & found." (A current favoruite.) 17. Walter Smith III ~ "III" 18. Anything by Dave Douglas!! :- "Quintet: Live at the jazz standard", "The infinite", etc. Quite live his "Keystone" project too. 19. Keith Jarrett ~"The out of towners." 20. Joe Lovano' Us 5 ~ "Bird songs."
Just a couple of things to add as many of my favourites have already been named (except The Fun Lovin Criminals!) 1. Check out Road to Escondido by JJ Cale and Eric Clapton. It's a modern masterpiece by the Old School. 2. Coldplay have written some great tracks but have never released an album that wasn't padded with some dreadful ****e
