Hello and welcome to the fifth edition of Loan Watch. Loan Watch is a feature in which I will be updating you with how the players Kenny Dalglish sent out on loan are getting on. At the moment, we have seven players out on loan. They are: Danny Wilson. David Amoo. Alberto Aquilani. Joe Cole. Stephen Darby. Peter Gulacsi. Dani Pacheco. Danny Wilson: Blackpool. please log in to view this image Danny joined Blackpool on the 31st of January 2011. He has played 5 games so far and completed all of them. In this period, Blackpool have won two, drawn two and lost one. His most recent game was today's F.A Cup with Everton. He completed the full 90 minutes but Everton started the game very quickly and got 2 goals in the first six minutes. Blackpool had a penalty saved as the game ended 2-0. Without a doubt, this loan deal will give Danny that vital first-team experience that he needs. Before this loan, Danny was only playing reserve team football but as we all know, playing regular football in a competitive league will be great for the lad. Let's hope he can come back at the end of the season and impress Kenny! David Amoo: Bury. please log in to view this image David joined Bury on the 23rd of September 2011. He has played 17 games so far and has 3 goals and an assist. Bury currently sit 14th in League One and are nicely sat in mid-table. His most recent game was today's League One game with Exeter City. He completed the full 90 minutes and got a goal as Bury lost the game 3-2. Bury went 2-0 down inside the first 9 minutes and David got a goal back for Bury in the 29th minute. They couldn't get back in the game though as Exeter got the three points. David's loan deal will help him but I can't see him getting into the first-team at Liverpool upon the completion of his loan deal. He has been playing as a striker at Bury and only has three goals this season. Considering he has been playing regularly, this isn't a great return. His contract runs out in the summer and I cannot see it being renewed. I'll be happy if David goes on and bangs in a tonne of goals before the end of the season though! Alberto Aquilani: AC Milan. please log in to view this image Alberto joined AC Milan on the 25th of August for a season long loan. He has played 15 games so far this season with 1 goal and 6 assists to his name. This is a good return so far and shows that Alberto has settled back into life in Italy. His last game was AC Milan's 2-0 away win over Cagliari. This was in late December but hasn't played since due to injury. Most of us think Alberto is a good player. 6 assists in 15 games is a decent return but I don't expect to see him do anything more in a Liverpool shirt. He doesn't want to be in England and I fully expect him to move to Milan on a permanent deal in the summer. Joe Cole: Lille. please log in to view this image Joe joined Lille on the 31st of August 2011. He has played 12 games so far this season and has 3 goals and 2 assists. Joe has stated that he is enjoying his football and French football seems to suit Joe. His last game was today's 1-0 victory for Lille over Lorient. He started the game and was taken off in the 73rd minute. I like Joe. I thought he would be a good signing when he came but it didn't work. He's on high wages and doesn't seem to feature in Kenny's plans. I would expect Joe to complete a permanent move to Lille in the summer as he is enjoying himself at the Ligue 1 club. Stephen Darby: Rochdale. please log in to view this image Stephen joined Rochdale on the 7th of July 2011. He has played 28 games so far for the League 1 side and has made the right-back spot his own. His last game was a League 1 encounter between Rochdale & Bournemouth. Rochdale won the game 1-0 and Stephen helped his side keep a clean sheet and collect the three points. This has helped Rochdale move off the bottom of the table and only 4 points from safety. It's nice to see Stephen playing first-team football. With Glen Johnson, Martin Kelly & Jon Flanagan ahead of him in the battle for the right-back slot, I can't see him coming back and staking a claim for a first-team slot. I expect him to be moved on in the summer so he can play first-team football. Peter Gulacsi: Hull City. please log in to view this image Peter joined on the 19th of July 2011 for a season. He has played 15 games for Hull this season and helped Hull push towards the play-offs. He kept 4 clean sheets in that time but got an injury in a 1-0 loss at Burnley and hasn't played since. Hull signed cover and Peter hasn't been able to dislodge them as yet. Peter is highly rated within the club and signed a new contract before he went out on loan to Hull. The games he has played in will have given him that much needed experience and hopefully he can come back at the end of the season and learn more from Reina and Doni! Dani Pacheco: Rayo Vallecano. please log in to view this image Dani joined Rayo Vallecano on the 24th of August 2011. He has played 8 games so far this season (All off the bench) and hasn't scored so far. His last game was a 3-2 defeat for Rayo Vallecano against Racing Santander. He started the game but wasn't able to get a goal. He has been injured but is back fit again and hopefully will start pushing for a first-team place at Rayo! Dani has dropped off massively. He was built up as a massive talent but hasn't be able to do it on the pitch. 8 games off the bench and no goals isn't a great return. Maybe a new start is what Dani needs?
I thought Pacheco would kick on from his impressive time at Norwich where he scored and got some assists. - Such a shame
Pacheco seems to be back from injury and is on the bench against Levants today. Hopefully will get some game time and make an impact
10/10 for chris... best contributor to not606 imo... 3 points. 1. aquilani, i don't think ac will pay for him 2. cole, i tink nobody will want him and he won't sign for lille. he's an issue. 3. darby, i really really really hope he gets a better club. when he gets a permenant move.
Gulacsi is indeed a bit dodgy. Surprised he's rated so highly at Liverpool. Flaps a lot and never seems certain wether to come for the ball or not. When he played he often made the back 4 nervous. Providing Mannone stays fit, Gulacsi won't play for us again.
Just though I would post an update on how our loan players got on this weekend! Danny Wilson: Blackpool. Danny played and completed the full 90 minutes on Friday night as Blackpool drew 1-1 with Hull City. Ex-red Tom Ince had given Blackpool the lead but they couldn't hold out and Matty Fryatt got a 90th minute equaliser. David Amoo: Bury. David started Bury's game with Huddersfield on the bench but was brought on at half-time with Bury losing 3-1. David made an impact by providing the assist for Bury's second goal. Bury then went on to draw 3-3! Alberto Aquilani: AC Milan. Alberto wasn't in the matchday 18 for Milan as they beat Palermo 4-0. Albero hasn't played since late December due to injury and as I write this, i've got no news on when Alberto is due back. I'll try and find out. Joe Cole: Lille. Joe started for Lille as they drew 2-2 with Auxerre. He was taken off at half-time. Much sought-after Eden Hazard had give Lille a 2-0 lead but Auxerre got 2 goals in the last 10 minutes to get a point. On a side note, ex-Liverpool midfielder Anthony Le Tallec was sent off for Auxerre! Stephen Darby: Rochdale. Stephen played the full 90 minutes as Rochdale held promotion-chasing Sheffield Wednesday to a 0-0 draw. Stephen played at right-back and helped Rochdale to gain a valuable point! Peter Gulacsi: Hull City. Peter was on the bench for Hull as they drew 1-1 with Blackpool in the Friday night game. Since Peter got injured in December, he hasn't been able to gain his place back and is behind Arsenal loanee Vito Mannone in the pecking order. Dani Pacheco: Rayo Vallecano. Dani wasn't in the matchday 18 this weekend as Rayo Vallecano beat Racing Santander 4-2. He came back from injury a few weeks ago and got back in the Rayo sqaud so I don't know why Dani wasn't in the squad for this game. Toni Silva: Northampton Town. Toni started Northampton's game with Cheltenham on the bench and wasn't able to get on the pitch. Northampton had a 2-0 lead in this game but ended up drawing 2-2!
This one worries me. Knowing our luck, they won't take up the option and he'll come back crocked. We'll probably have a big decision to make in the summer - axe him completely, sell him at a massively reduced fee, or simply keep him and see what he can do. No more loans, please. Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending how you look at it) he's contracted to summer 2014.
Yeah, I can see where you are coming from. As I write this, he's played 20 games for AC Milan and I read somewhere that he has to play 25 games in order to activate the clause which means that he leaves on a permanent deal. His agent has also been saying that a deal is getting closer. We just need to hope that Alberto plays another 5 games this season!
