Standard. No doubt the Olympic Torch will go out several times as well. I can see someone doing the final lap of the stadium with it having to stop and ask a spectator if they have a light.

Probably carry a lighter around with them as there's no smoking in the stadium and they probably wouldn't get one.

I can't believe all the stadiums and infrastructure is on time or ahead, and on budget (I think). Somethings bound to go wrong.

Well the legacy has hit the skids before the games have even started.

This is even funnier given the focus on the clock in yesterday's BBC programme TwentyTwelve. Did anyone see it?

I've got this premonition that due to the 'wrong type of heat' the infrastructure grinds to a halt and 3,000 people are present for the opening ceremony.

Am I the only one that couldn't give a **** about the London 2012 Olympics?

The only thing we will get to see up here is maybe some lacklustre football.

If I'm lucky enough to those front row seats for the women's beach volley ball then I'm really looking forward to it.

We have a lot of the sailing events on the south coast at Weymouth, so I am thinking of making my fortune by picking up a "job lot" of second hand pedalos and hiring them out so people can get a closer look at the action.

    This time next year Rodney...........................

Put me down for a pedalo. I'm like Freddie Flintoff on one of them!

I'm looking forward to the Olympics, will be great to get to some of the events. I find it surprising some people are slagging it off, most Olympics we're glued to the TV watching and cheering on the Brits, next year we get a chance to actually go and see the events live and people are going "oh it'll be ****ing **** anyway!"

To the tagger of the 2012 phenomenon.
Sorry for being pedantic, it's the mesoamerican long count calendar and it's grossly misquoted - it's supposed to signify the end of one age and beginning of another - much like a passing of a millenium for example, think this is the 4th world with the 3rd world ending in August 3114 BC, so we're about to enter into the 5th one.
The modern day Mayans attach no significance to it except to celebrate and it's only since the 1960's that any armageddon theories were created (by one guy called Michael Coe, which snowballed in the '90s).

There's some useless information for you! /rantover

Anyway regarding the olympics I couldn't give a toss, London will be overcrowded so I wont be able to make my usual summer trips for nights out at Fabric and the like, Yorkshire is getting nowt (if I still live in Leeds) and back home is only getting crappy events at extortionate prices. We're all paying for it and the only real benefit will be in London more than likely, it's ridiculous! However I might pinch OT's idea for women's volleyball <whistle>

Last time I was in London I thought I'd ingratiate myself with the locals by using their lingo.

I went up to a bloke and said " Excuse me, have yer got the time on yer cock?"

As it turned out he was a literalist and the poor bugger got arrested for indecent exposure.
