Knocked out the Hammers in the FA youth cup last night after a penalty shoot out in a 3-3 draw. Up against Nottingham Forest in the 1/4 finals weekend after next! Fingers crossed for an unexpected trophy! COYBB!
Watched that last night after the Arsenal game, got some real talent in that squad and a lad named John Swift is definitely one for the future!
I'm gutted to have missed that Drogs! We we're on baby sitting jankers yesterday and I hadn't realised it was on until it was over! Perhaps CTV might reshow it!
It's a shame.Chelsea have produced some good players,Sinclair and Cork spring to mind. Why,oh why you sold Cork to us for 750k is beyond me,I think he could of played quite well for you guys.
We beat Chelsea 3-1 today. We believe in our youth,we give them a pathway to succeed and prosper so they can integrate in the first team. Our(Barça's originally) system should and will be adopted by clubs in the future,I'm sure of it. We are a small club, but with big plans though, which could be easily adopted by most premier league clubs.
Thats easy to say when you're a championship club who are trying to get back in the EPL. The problem when you're a top four club is that you have to stay there so we don't have that luxury.
But Barça are the best team in the world and they play 7 or 8 academy graduates in their first team.Look at Ajax aswell, plenty of academy players in their team and the best example is Bilbao, with their "Basque only players" policy,I think most of their players are "local" and a few are from other spanish clubs,no foreigners. And they are 9th in La Liga,2 points from 4th place...put that in your pipe and smoke it. You've let some good players go that could be playing for you.
Agree with the bit about letting our youth prospects go for stupid amounts but haven't Southampton also let a lot of their flourishing talent go? Maybe if you'd kept them you'd be in the PL
And your point is........ Barca have one team of real note to compete with. We have about 5 or 6. Completely different thing. And I don't smoke a pipe either. K******d!
We had to let them go(Bale and Walcott, the most noticeable)Oxo went because he wanted to join a bigger club so we weren't gonna go against his will,we got a great deal and hopefully he will sign for another club in the future and we'll get 40% of the fee. Hopefully we will be in the PL next season .
My point is,it's better to invest in your academy than to buy players from abroad. Barcelona are the best team in the world, every team wants to beat them.
Totally meaningless waxing lyrical about our youth if the club doesn't have the testicular fortitude to use them at senior level! Whenever we have players who have potential we immediately farm them out to other clubs where other a period of time they go native and want to stay; ironic isn't it when we were bleating out for a creative midfield player we sent McEachran out to Swansea?
Once we establish ourselfs in the PL we won't let any of our academy stars go. You need Jack Cork, why did you let him go?
