Its Wednesday morning, that time of the week when I start looking at the weekends game, this weekend could be a special one.

We know we have a sell out and we know that with Dagliesh at the helm we will be meeting a rejuvinated Liverpool.

They have some big players out but should have a certain Mr Carroll returing to the northeast, we could well have some of our long term injured back.

And who would have thought it, we are fighting Liverpool for a top eight finish, a win and we could go 7th.

Our team selection gives us something rare in the years of following Sunderland, do we start this international or that one.

In goal I think Mig, in Bruces eyes, is starting to threaten Gordon for the number 1 spot, I see him starting.

I expect Ned to be back, it would take a death certificate to keep Bardo out and Bramble and Mensah in the middle.

We know that Muntari,Sess, Henderson and Gyan will start and I see Bruce going 4-3-3. Will Catts be fit? Welbeck should start so if Catts is fit I see a team of..

    Mig

    Ned..Bramble..Mensah..Bardo

    Henderson..Catts..Muntari

    Sess..Gyan..Welbeck

But, Richardson, Ferdinand,Elmo,Campbell,Gordon all could feature. Not a bad problem to have.

Indeed. What a team and what a bench. And who goes where? Now I can see why the manager's job is always on a knife's edge. Get it right and you're a genius. Get it wrong and you're out on your neck-end.
Not a bad problem ... for Bruce. Glad I don't have it but long may he have to keep dealing with such problems.

What a good post to read at this time of day;to be challenging Liverpool for supremacy at this time of the season is the stuff of dreams-I've just pinched myself and realise that I'm fully awake.
Here's to a great game (beachball or not) and I fancy 2-1 to the lads'
Kick off can't come soon enough.

You're being pessimistic Syd, I could still see Bardo kicking out the bottom of his coffin, pulling the red 'n' white stripes over it and taking Kuyt out with a crunching sliding tackle in the first minute <laugh> <laugh> <laugh>

It's strange but I'm just not worried about who starts as we do have quality enough to win this game. <ok>

Don't think Catts is fit enough for a start Syd, Brucey was saying he should be on the bench and will come on if required but not fully match fit yet, also expect to see Campbell on the bench and maybe even a start for Wellbeck.

    Happy days.

It seems an eternity since we last played a home game and I'm already buzzing with anticipation! I don't think you will be far wrong with your team selection Syd; and as a footnote, isn't it great to have some of these long-term injuries coming bavk into the reckoning...
Bring on the Scousers...Ha'Way me bonny Laaaaads!!!!

bruce has got a decent selection of quality players to choose from, no more excuses now, and to contesting the likes of lfc on a level par is great for the club and shows we are moving forward. everyone will have their own team selection but the only one that counts is bruces, but mine woud be

    mig
    ned bramble mensah bardo

    jordan catts steed sess

    wellbeck gyan

and hoping that campbell plays some part in the game

Great thing is that we could all pick our own team but I doubt any would pick a team that could not excite.

well syd considering ned is a central defender, how about this team then

    mig
    elmo bramble ned bardo
    jordan catts steed sess
    gyan wellbeck

maybe against the scousers, its not the best time to try this one, definetely a team with pace,

Why mess with our defence? Mensah was a rock against Arsenal, surely he earned his place against Liverpool?
