Greetings Liverpudlians, I was hoping you could give me your informed opinions on the chances of Kenny getting a long-term contract at Anfield as manager? It seems to me that there is nobody better at motivating your players for the big, crunch matches. My only doubt would be his ability to 'fire up the troops' when it comes to the more ordinary fixtures - the 3-1 defeat at West Ham United is still fresh in the memory. Apologies if you've had articles like this before, i've not ventured onto this board before so please bear with me...
Theres the ability to win titles....ie Mourinho, but theres winning titles with Liverpool, thats a different kettle of fish, and Kenny knows how to do that.I would give him the job for two reasons, one he signs players for a reason, they are strengthen areas of weakness. He doesn't make pointless signings,he never did.You would never see him sign players like Carrick. He identifies weaknesses and strengthens them, thats what good managers do.The second reason is he's a wily old fox,has been around the the course and he doesn't do mind games,he laughs at them and he can handle the pressure when it comes to ''Squeaky bum time''.
I realise he won titles with Liverpool, but do you think it makes any difference that it was so long ago? He did an amazing job at Blackburn to win them the Premier League, although his time with us at Newcastle United has a very negative vibe from most - even though he took us to Wembley in the FA Cup. Do you consider the personalities and super-rich players of today will be as affected as the ones from years past?
Winning titles is like riding a bicycle, when you've done it once.....you never forget. As for money.Kenny is shrewed with it comes to purchases. You can give Kenny ã30 million and its almost certain he will spend it wisely and be successful, you can give a moron like Mark Hughes ã100 million and be almost certain he will waste it.Well he did do it at Man City.ã24 million for Lescott.C'mon. Thats even more stupid than the idiot that paid ã18 million for Carrick. What is his name again?.Its the same bloke that paid ã8 million for a portugese tramp that he never seen play.
ã35000000 for Andy Carroll isn't shrewd. It's idiotic when last season he was valued at ã1000000 by Newcastle. Once again, Pepe, you make yourself look stupid.
He's 22 and he cost ã3 million more than Berbatov who was 6 years older. Yes it was shrewd. Spending ã18 million on a one paced midfielder that passes the ball like Ray Wilkins....sideways and backways is idiotic, not to mention spending another ã18 million on Owen ''I need a wheelchair'' Hargreaves.Well that is just plain stupid. Have I mentioned Veron.............How much did he cost again?
ã35 million on an unproven striker who at the time had played half a season in top flight football is not shrewd, it's completely ******ed. Newcastle saw Kenny Dalglish coming, and Dalglish didn't disappoint. Fergie may have made a few dud transfers in his time, but the Andy Carroll signing more than makes up for it! Sell Fernando Torres for ã50m and spend the majority of that money on a player that was valued at ã1m the previous season! Only you dippers eh?!
Carrick helped United win the champions league. Most notably in the 7-0 rout of Roma. Ditto Owen Hargreaves. Veron was (and rightly so) seen as a world class player at the time. Carroll is none of these things.
your judging carroll before he has even started for us, please name me another striker as young as him which performs the same duties he does, on top of that we would have to compete with other teams if we went for him this summer and his price is high due to the transfer all being done on deadline day.
oh and carroll looks set to be an england regular for years to come, carrick and hargreaves are none of these. Veron WAS world class, then he came to you, look how forlan is now thriving since he escaped the clutches of united
Andy Carroll will prove to be a snip at ã35m. Believe me, we have watched his progress very carefully and know all about him - nothing phases him, he is a full England international and had already scored on a regular basis in the Premier League this season before his injury. When he's on top form there is simply no stopping him. If it had been up to me, we never would have sold him - he signed a new 5-year deal in November 2010 and we really should have kept him for the duration.
how can you judge carroll? judge him when he is fit and had a full season.then you can tell pepe he is stupid but i think he will prove you wrong my friend.
Just going back to the question for a moment. I think most Liverpool fans believe Kenny is going to lead us forward for the next few years at least. The West Ham game was dissapointing but I don't think that will be a trend.
No; one of Kenny's quality signing from long ago. Come to think about it the former president would have been better
He seemed to have us motivated enough when we beat Wolves 0-3 and when we beat Stoke 2-0. I think next season we'll put in a much better shift against sides like West Ham & Wigan (I'm not saying we'll win these games but it will certainly be tougher for them)
You forget David Speedie and Jimmy Carter. Kenny also signed John Barnes for 900k,who Ferguson has admitted wishes he signed.Kenny also signed Peter Beardsley for ã1.9 million,a player Ferguson bid ã3 million for.Beardo was never going to join Man United, because Ron Atkinson let him go on a free, because he stupidly thought Norman Whiteside was a better player.Norman Whiteside was compared to George Best, the only thing Whiteside and Best had in common was they were both from Northern Ireland and they were both alcoholics. Okay Kenny made two howlers in 5 years of managing Liverpool. In those 5 years.Ferguson made a lot of howlers, from 1986-1991.I'll name some of them. Ralph Milne,Danny Wallace,Mike Phelan,Mal Donaghy,Peter Davenport,Neil Webb,Jim ''Duckfeet'' Leighton. Those that cannot remember before 1992 cannot remember those. I definitely think Andy Carroll aged 22 at ã35 million is definitely better value than Dimitar Berbatov at 28 at ã32 million. Then again David Ngog at ã1.5 million is better value than Dimitar Berbatov at ã32 million.
Ah, another sensible thread ruined by KingPepeReina and his "I must talk about United in every post" obsession. I wonder if his mother loved him enough as a child? That was Liverpool's problem way before Dalglish joined them. Play like giants against Chelsea, United and Real Madrid, play like donkeys against West Ham, Blackpool and Stoke. The one thing Dalglish needs to do if Liverpool are to succeed is to end the consistent trend of underperforming against lower ranked teams. Which thus far seems to be the one thing he's been unable to do. Either way, I can't see him not getting a long term offer in the summer. If NESV don't give him a contract and some money to spend the fans will never forgive them, and the spectre of Dalglish will always be there if a replacement manager fails to perform. Javier Hernandez. Never mind, eh...
Javier Hernandez Never mind eh. Why on earth do they let morons near computers.? Different sort of player. If you are going to compare Andy Carroll to a United player it would be Berbatov.Andy Carroll can do something Berbatov can't....and thats run. Berbatov runs like an asthmatic with 2 wooden legs that smokes 40 benson and hedges......a day.
