Should DM announce his retained list now...?

As I said in another thread, these same players rolled Southampton over in impressive style so they CAN do it...

However, the more I think about it, DM is having to deal with a squad, half of which is out of contract in the summer and the players must have a pretty fair idea of who is staying and who is going which can't be good for morale...

So, to my mind, I would announce the retained list now and only use the players who are staying and who are WILLING to put in a shift and fight to retain their NPC status.

DEFEAT I CAN ACCEPT, SO LONG AS WE GO DOWN FIGHTING.

Capitulation by players who don't really give a toss, is UNACCEPTABLE...!

I really do question if this guy is the man for the job,as I said previously managing a Cheltenham town in Scotland is not managing a club like Bristol City in the championship.

You are wrong to question it, he has the pedigree of a winner and knows a good player as he played alongside class in his time - clearly what he has here isn't up to it but there again, I bet you would have sacked Ferguson as well....

With his own players, he will build a team with a winning mentality.

I'll bet you are one of these who say that league 1 and 2 strikers can't make the transition to top level football despite the endless list of those who have...

Don't you think that DM would be picking the players he wants to keep before those
that he wants rid of? In which case I can't really understand your argument.
In his first few games Del was very positive with his substitutions and if we were
drawing would bring on an attacking player to try and get the win.
It feels to me as if that positivity has drained away and he now wants to play
safe all the time - maybe that loss in his confidence has transmitted to the players.
Rather than them not trying they seem to have simply lost all confidence in the team
and don't expect to win. Very worrying as you can't reverse psychology like that
very easily. Bringing in new faces may help I guess but so far the more Del brings
in the worse we seem to get. I am getting a bit tired of just signing Scots and fear
the Board went for Del as they have thought for years there were bargains up there
and wanted someone who knew them well enough to pick a few good 'uns. Not a
tactic I think will work - it will come back and bite them in the bum now....

That's bollocks he has tried to get players to improve the squad but for some reason they don't want to come! Could it be financial? Or could it be they don't want to join a sinking ship?
The one thing I got pissed of with listening to the radio was when Macmanus was injured, leading to their second goal. What do we do we kick off before the sub can take place!
We play like kids on the park we don't think. When we have a goal kick all the players huddle together so DJ can only pass to one part of the pitch where every ****er is, as I said school boy stuff no one makes space. We take a throw in no one makes space. Why is it when we watch teams on TV the pitch looks huge players making runs balls being played over defenders for wingers or attackers to run onto it.
Once we get to the summer he can then start buying at the moment it is loans and I think we could be looking at a mass clear out.

Like I have been saying for many years, we stopped playing what resembled football halfway through the first season back in the NPC since which time, it has been getting steadily worse and worse - we have had defenders who look like rabbits trapped in the headlights when pressured just pumping it up the pitch thus by passing the "midfield"...

I watched Burnley last night, they LOOKED like a football team, they passed the ball to each other in a confident manner and they looked positively LIGHT YEARS ahead of us in style

Familiarty has breed contempt and it is time for a clear out of the old guard and to get players in with the ability to pass the ball to each other, with a positive mental attitude and above all, who are hungry for success...

Then, and ONLY then, will we get somewhere...

As for starting with the players DM wants to keep, who knows - he might have started that way but he has probably now realised that even some of them aren't up to it...

I'm getting fed up with all this "Man U & Ferguson rubbish"........HE IS NOT ALEX Ferguson.......DM managed an average club in a poor league, which is what I said before.
I wondered after we had a good run of games what would happen once the bubble burst........and how we would bounce back from a defeat.
I think the job he took on was a big job which needed a manager experienced in the English top two divisions....as it is I believe the board yet again took the cheap option.
I'm not calling for his head as I feel it could be too late for that...
DM now needs to sit down and work out what players he needs to bring in to get us out of this mess......and the board needs to back him all the way

Well yes - but Del HAS been bringing players in already.
Admittedly he hasn't had long and they are mostly loans but do you look at them and think they are trying any
harder (or are that much better) than the ones that were already here - or might not be next season?
I can't see much difference myself which doesn't fill me with confidence that Del has the contacts to
get in the right type of player to turn all this gloom around.....

Going down financially would be mind boggleing.
I know many fans who have held STs who really are questioning replacements this coming season.
The problem being the footy is bad.

I don't think anyone is saying that DM is Ferguson although it should be pointed out that he managed a better team in poor league as well...

The point is that SAF might have become an old soak long since retired and sat in some Scottish boozer right now had he been branded a failure at Old Trafford - the Utd faithful were certainly on his back and some wanted him out, bet they feel a bit silly now...

The point is, some wanted him out before they even gave him a chance...

I really don't care what happens between now and the end of the season, SO LONG AS WE STAY UP - DM has to make the best of a bad bunch and we need to give him a chance to show us what he can do given some material to work with next year...

Exactly Del has been given funds to strengthen the first eleven,SL has backed him but we are no further forward,if anything we are going backwards.

So long as we stay up I'm all for......
I wonder if the problem with having DM is, do players want to come & play for an unknown Scottish manager, does he have the right contacts?
He has come in at the deep end that's for sure, I wonder if he needs help just to keep us up............

If this was the begining of the season I wouldn't have a problem......but IMO it will be a disaster if we go down and if we do DM would have failed.......along with the board.

There are two ways of looking at this

    1) If all Del does is keep us up before the almighty clearout starts in the Summer then in my book he will have succeeded.

    2) If we go down, Del will have to take some of the blame, but the roots of this decline started when we failed to go up when we were top of the Championship with just a few games to go in 2008. Since then, poor team and club management have seen us steadily drop year by year, and we've made poor managerial choices and transfers.

At the moment, I'd get rid of the entire squad, Adomah, Bolasie and all because none of them are fit to wear the shirt.

"I know how you guys don't like us'

Yeah but not liking and not caring either are different things.
