They have just shown goals on SPN, the goal scored by Lee was a corker...Paul Merson said we looked very very good and could have won by more....
Class all round today, Fox's crosses were brilliant. Lallana was class, Lambert's hold up play was immense. Saints where different class . As for Lee's goal, what a hit that was!
Excellent performance, every player was near the top of their game. best game I've seen by Fox. Cork strong in midfield. Rickie superb as ever. Lallana back to his best. Defence strong. Goals all round, could have been more. Stunner from Tadanari!!! Special praise for Spiderman. Best game I've ever seen him play. Controlled the midfield, without the need for showboat passes, just kept it simple, closed down and nipped in to win the ball countless times. Thats the sort of midfield performance he is capable of.
And the award for the worst team to visit St Marys this season goes to.........Derby. (Sorry Watford, hand it over). We were very good, but christ were Derby bad.
Don't belittle us too much, Derby were a decent side, from just before half time and before our second, they competed well, they had no finish, and at least they kept it clean
Absolutely, don't do Derby a disservice they were far from the worst we've played this season. Unfortunately for them they met us when we were playing at our best.
I'll give you that. They were alright in the little spell, and the game could have easily turned out differently had Martin not scored our second. But I lost count how many times their midfield and defence either gave the ball away, or put up meek resistance in competing for the ball. As I say, we were very good. You don't often win 4-0 if you weren't. Make no mistake, we are back! But I just thought Derby were shocking, that short period of the game aside.
Morgan is a class player he just seems to have time on the ball where he shouldnt. Great performance from him today.
Agree with all the positive comments, but the thing that struck me was well we harried them right up to and including back passes to the keeper. They had no time at all on the ball, wheras we always had a pass available when they pressured us. It reminds me of when Chaplow was playing at his best....oh, I have just noticed something
I thought he played alright. Held the ball up well, and often sorted his feet out quickly despite defenders being in close presence. But a few on here don't seem to be in agreement. Either way, I think he's been carrying on injury ever since he signed (he obviously came off at HT today, and I think his thigh has had some strapping on it), so one would imagine his performances will only improve once he's over it.
A very good performance from Saints and a cracker from Lee at the end. I'm looking forward to seeing it again on the replay.
