Lewis Hamilton's foundation supports a number of worthy causes. I'm not sure why there is an assumption that he doesn't give something back. And if you belive that he should concentrate on Stevenage.... it's not exactly the same deprivation as the shanty towns as Brazil now is it?

When it comes to Hamilton, I'm always lost as to why we have to go down the route of bringing his character in to question with false perceptions and can't simply stick to his driving.

A big round of <applause> to that, Sgt. You may want to re-post it during the season as these types of unfounded defamatory attacks get posted far too regularly.

1:I don't read up in great detail about Lewis so I wouldn't know about his life like his fans would, so don't make out what I think your trying to say.

2: Does he even attend these events or is this just the usual PR bs you see from footballers, chucking a weeks wages at poorly children and attend once a year when his manager tells him to, please! that's not compassion that's being a product of something he's not.

Yet again it seems people think I have a secret agenda and it's ****ing me off as I can't get 2 posts in without someone completely taking it in a different direction and twisting it to make me look like a **** where I'm just trying to discuss his mindset, nothing more.

Sorry if I don't knod up and down with agreement thinking Lewis has his priorities sorted, but after avoiding these forums to cool down the tension for a couple of months, did absolutely FA...

I'm trying to understand Lewis as a person, not judge his character...

Don't get all bent out of shape. You have made my point for me. Unless your clued up, refrain from assumptions is what i'm saying. Not having a go at you.

I just don't see the need to pass judgment on somebody's character that none of us know.

One quick note Silver. Not looking for any kind of conflict btw. Just giving my view... So I hope you take it in the spirit that it's intended. I certainly have no intention to offend you or seem like I am trying to undermine your views.

Back to the topic of Hamilton, I must say that I have a few concerns. I have a suspicion that the McLaren may be off the pace in the early season once again.

Apologies to McLaren fans if this lowers expectations…

It was miles off the pace last year, yet was also the only real challenger RB had, and who knows what bit of propaganda gets spread, a word in this ear to throw your competitors off, knowing that anything said in confidence to anyone is gonna be back pages somewhere tomorrow for sure. Kovy could be a doomed spy.

Hahaha. No; I've not been on the Autosport forum, although I have made the occasional contribution to it. But you are correct that I am aware of Hamilton's less official comments…

Anyone know how Heikki feels towards McLaren? Would he collude in spreading misinformation, is it just a case of loose lips or is the story all made-up?

Strange... They say no smoke without fire, but then again what I read referenced no source. Only that Hamilton allegedly "confided" in Heikki.

It could be genuine it could also be a case of chinese whispers. If anybody can reel in a performance deficit before the start of the season though, it's Macca. I'm not panicking yet.

Well, I'm just a tad twitchy, I would have preferred a fast lap or two during recent testing just to reassure, Ferrari managed to put up a show, why not McLaren, but I do think they are generally in a much better position than last year.

I'm not convinced Ernie - it was a fairly dour show really.
Lets hope the normal slow introduction from McLaren is sorted rather quicker this time around.

As Button said, there's no opportunity this year to slap on a new exhaust and find two seconds before the first race. They're pretty much stuck with what they've got unless they expedite development on the MP4-27B.

If they're as far behind as they looked in the first test then perhaps the silver lining is that they're in a prime position to develop next year's car.

Mclaren and the press were making positive noises all through the test, I'm sure Mclaren are in a better position than last year. My be not first, just improved to be closer to the fastest.

Maybe they were teabagging and/or putting out a bit of misinformation that the car's not fast. McLaren fans fear another season where they're playing catch-up so it's easy to believe but surely they'd have prioritised avoiding that this year. Something about this Heikki story seems a bit fishy and anyway, there are still two rounds of tests before the first race.

sandbagging- (carry extra weight ) - more likely to be running on lower power.
teabagging- drivers spending all day drinking tea - because the car has to be taken apart !!!!!
