Walcott reminds me of something my old mentor in my first job used to say when dissing his nemesis - "even a broken clock is right twice a day".

Walcott, by sheer amount of game time he gets over others, gets the chances to score (and miss) not afforded to others.

Chris Waddle was criticised for saying that Wlacott did not have a football brain, and Waddle has been proven right.

So much of modern football is about what happens off the ball; running into space to offer angles/options to the man on the ball, antipicating the exploitation of space by a team mate whilst on the ball, etc, etc.

Theo is sadly lacking in these areas. Ramsey has some serious flaws in his game as well.

In short, we midfielders who cannot pass not shoot, we have forwards who can't score, defenders who can't defend. It's a miracle, or perhaps a sign of the actual shallowness of the quality in the PL that we are in 4th.

What I find annoying is that Wenger has persisted with certain below par players (Walcott, Ramsey, Gervinho) resolutely, yet has not used the squad psycology to make players fight for their places. That in turn has demotivated the likes of Chamach, Rosicky, Arshavin to the point where they are non-entities.

It's mystifying what is going on.

Something Theo is actually excellent at, although maybe not on the wing, but up front he's excellent.

Arshavin was that good actually. If walcott could be half the player Arshavin was at his peak I'd be satisfied.

I don't really blame Wenger for Arshavin, bit if he had as much positive bias for him as he does for Walcott you never know. He would have more games and wouldn't be so out of form.

Yet walcott still gets the games no matter how **** he is.

I agree with everything you said apart from your assessment of Gervinho. I think he's one of our most effective players going forward. He does everything Theo doesn't-take players on, provide good balls into the box. The only thing lacking in his game is goals, I think they'll come. Theo, on the the other hand, has had ages to prove his worth and constantly disappoints - complete waste of space, he needs to be shown the door and kicked through it sharpish.

  7. How can Theo be playing this badly - erm, because he is inconsistent and overall not good enough. Simple really.

No matter where he plays he still wont be able to pass, will have a terrible touch, no vision and will be the easiest guy in world football to push off the ball. Maybe he would be better up front but still not good.
