At least it's not Rafa's hamstring I guess!

Clive Allen's son Oliver, made appearances for our youth team and later went on to play for Stevenage.

Interesting piece in the Express about Ron Henry, and his aptly named grandson Ronnie who some of you may remember from the youth academy (now playing at Stevenage)

Ronne Henry has been at Stevenage a number of years no and has always stood out as one of their better players. I remember him in our youth team all those years ago, but had forgotten he actually made the first team bench.

Awaiting GHoddle10's apocalyptic menstruation about somebody's team selection to derail the thread in 3...2...

Redknapp has suggested that there won't be too many changes, so I'd expect to see a pretty familiar line up.
It seems likely that Nelsen will replace King and we might see Lennon and Defoe start too, but I wouldn't expect much more than that.

  7. This raises the question of just how important it is to win this game.....
On the face of it, the FA Cup is either a distraction from the key goal of CL qualification (or better) or another more than realistic ambition for this season.

I guess I am venturing on the cautious side and hoping that we rest/protect as many of the key 1st teamers as possible. Apart from the more obvious absentees like Leds, VDV, Ade, Mods, Scotty and Friedel, I think that Benny, Bale and Walker should also be no more than subs. There are more than adequate replacements to withstand what will undoubtedly be a pretty fierce encounter.

As ManUre found out last night - its easy to lose a player of significance during a match of minor worth (in the big scheme of things). And that is not to denigrate either the FA cup nor EL.

Absolutely massive game on Sunday, the FA Cup is the only trophy we have a realistic chance of winning this season, IMHO.

Losing would be terrible, a humiliation on national TV that would be very hard to take, for me anyway, and could disrupt our league campaign too..

Cudicini, Walker Dawson Nelsen BAE, Lennon Livermore Sandro/Parker Niko, Saha Defoe

something like that for me - no rookies, no weak players

we will win and win well..i like most of you have that inbuilt pessimism in me that has been second nature for well over a decade or two..due to be a spurs fan..but now we have a great team..a great manager...the best team in London by far and not far off the best in the land....Stevenage 1...Spurs 4

Lining up with a pair of defensive midfielders against a team two divisions below us is not only ludicrously overcautious, but also stymies our forward momentum because we won't have anyone who can dictate play from the middle of the park and slow down our approach play - giving them a chance to get back and regain possession.

In other words, don't go around saying other people haven't got a clue about team selection when you clearly know nothing about tactics or the way Spurs have played for the last four seasons.

Well done to those who put Saha in their line-ups, as he isn't cup tied, a bonus for us, and I see no reason to change much as Harry has said. Haven't played since last Saturday and won't play again till the following Sunday, only Ledders needs to benefit from that amount of rest imo.

We currently have 20 players out on loan, so anyone who thinks we might make wholesale changes for Sunday, need to think again. However, I don't expect to see BAE, Bale, Adebayor or Friedel starting and possibly not Walker and Parker either. That would still allow us to give starrting places to Rose, Niko, Saha, Livermore etc and possibly even a youngster like Ryan Fredericks or Massimo Luongo.

I disagree, Notso. I don't think it's worth risking our best players on a poor pitch(tripped Newcastle up last year) and a tough tackling League One side with a point to prove.

Spurs or Spurs'? I believe you'll find that the pitch at WHL is as close to the stands as that at Stevenage, they will be more than comfortable playing close to the crowd (?).

Thats made me think, and for a young whippersnapper you make a good point......<steam>...<laugh>.

So, I thought I'd have a look at the highlights of their last home game, oddly the last round of the FA cup, postponements have prevented use since, so it won't have been played on for 3 weeks. Not saying that makes things better but it can't hurt either. Its hard to tell in the footage, the goalmouths don't look too promising though, but its definetly not what we're used to. <ok>

The Premier League isn't exactly for the feint hearted...see Bales shins! so we'll have to agree to disagree on that one. <ok>

I go with Harry, a strong side is what is needed.

I wouldn't want any inexperienced youngsters starting this game, just seasoned pros with an emphasis on our physically stronger players. I think we also need three regular starters in the back 4, so if Nelsen is playing the other three should be Walker, BAE and Kaboul/Dawson.

This <applause> - smash them to bits and bring the less experienced players on towards the end - it's a cup game not a fcking exhibition game.

Oh - I believe that Kaboom is doubtful :-(

I don't even think Bale is suited to this type of game anyway :p

YV - We got lucky v Watford, I'd rather not watch a similar 90 tbh, I'm not going to start naming who should and shouldn't, but I'd prefer to see only a couple of changes, you need to play once a week to stay match fit, and keep momentum.

I'd rather we took the opportunity to rest players in one of our easiest games than risk burn out like last season.
