What has 'being in Europe for a number of years' go to do with anything? Yes, he played in Amsterdam so does that make him an expert in English culture?
Actually European football has been conspicuously silent on this issue, for two reasons I believe.
On one hand the normal people in their various countries have a more mature attitude to different ethnicities living beside each other: they don't as societies continually force groups to amalgamate & adopt the same world view point or even language. Probably down to the historical free movement of people across the continent.
We're a group of islands with a defensive (justifiably in history so) attitude.
Interestingly, two of the countries who have a similar approach as societies as we do in trying to force a "beige"
Population have the same kind of racism issues: Poland and Italy.
You can't force the tribalism out of the human brain: you can enforce tolerance & equality but that's it. For gods sake, competitive sport would not exist without encouraging tribalism: Look at not famous as a perfect product of this encouragement lol Imagine the Olympic games if we all said ah we don't really Mind who wins!
Platini has been wise to be quiet about racism. France actually payed their traveling community to leave their country en masse.
Can you imagine if as a country we turned round to the black or Asian community and said: "we don't want you here, here's some money now bugg*r off"???nor do I advocate it But yet France has not become the outcast of Europe.
Ajax fans know that this spat, has nothing to do with real racists issues. It's a combination of media/special interest opportunism, our society's tendency to hand wring over the small detail so as not to look at the whole picture and have the adult conversation.
They applauded Suarez because he was a successful footballer not because he was a bastion of moral or multicultural virtue.
Only we expect our usually poorly educated spoilt adrenaline pumped egotists to be UN ambassadors as well.
Yes, the fact is he used a word that is considered racist in this country (by most people). He admitted to that fact.
You've read the report extract and still stick to your guns?171. Thus, the word can be employed with the intent to offend and to offend in racial terms;
Fair play boys, you aren't ever going to let this ****er lie are you?
Jesus.

No, not really. I came on for a browse and saw that there are still two threads still banging on about it so made a jokey comment. Other than that it's fairly amusing but I've got no intention of joining in.
Seriously though, it's best left.
Cheers.

Good stuff! In fairness there was really only one thread going again by actual LFC fans; who had stated that they'd only started commenting now rather than at the time in the hope they could discuss the matter More objectively: as noble an aim as that was, it would was always doomed to attract the winders & I'll be the first to admit I bit on 3 separate occasions.
Just annoyed me when I discovered other fans playing both sides of the "let it die" argument.

Best left from a Utd point of view, yes. Because the more the report is examined the more obvious the injustice.

i disagree, if we just leave it, it just means they'll think they can get away with it again in future.
the only way cheating, corruption, and injustice wins is if everyone gives up, and leaves them alone to carry it on.
this might not be the most serious case of injustice, but it is still an injustice.
the actual incident itself, yes, it probably is best to draw a line under that. but the whole behaviour of the fa and their 'investigation' and hearing, certainly not.

Ruff is sound - and he's right to a degree, it is best left. Its just when an idiot appears claiming to know better than everyone else that we react.
I, for one, won't let it lie while others continue their ill-informed campaigns of hate...
Certainly I'm one of those who is tired of the turd-throwing contest that has comprised most of the debate on this affair, but I think this thread - despite an attempt by NOF to drag it down - serves a necessary purpose.below is a reference to a statement made by Javier Hernandez.
Hernandez is talking about team-mate Omar Esparza when he is quoted as saying: "I liked the goal of the Negrito, I think it's a sign that Chivas youth are ready to respond in big games.â
Clearly a racist?
Suarez was the sacrificial lamb on Blatter's altar.
Its been done to death and as Suarez and LFC are'nt going to contest the FA's findings(as far as we know)maybe its time to move on.
Why do rival fans continue to look on the LFC board - go straight to a thread about something they find 'boring' or 'best left' - but carry on commenting anyway. It defies logic. It's one thing having a browse for threads that catch your interest but then to leave a comment 9 pages in (in this instance) is crazy - no matter how sound the poster is.
