It's Cottager58 who normally posts about the Academy side I know. Apologies C58 for beating you to it mate. I was following the game last night and they beat Man City 2-1 to go through to the quarter finals. what was interesting to me was this comment from Kit Symons (who clearly still wants to be involved in the youth set up at FFC): âWell itâs fantastic,â Kit said of the support his team receives. âWhen you get your Chief Executive punching the air when a youth team goal goes in you know youâre at the right football club. Itâs brilliant.â There's also a comment from AM as well. http://www.fulhamfc.com/Club/News/NewsArticles/2012/February/KitsCityReaction.aspx Obviously I think Mackintosh was keen to go to his old stomping ground (as it were) but I think it's great that the youth set up is so highly prized at FFC. Well done everyone - we have some talented lads who could make the big time it appears. COYW
All the "younger" teams seem to be doing well at the moment which is really good news for a bright ffc future. However, please could one of you more knowledgable guys explain the terminology to me: who/what age are the "youth" team, how do they differ from the "development squad" and how many under 18/under 17 etc etc teams are there? ie. any info which would clear up my confusion would be useful - thanks in advance!
I'll pass Penguin - Valj is probably the guy who knows. Last night's team had a fair smatterring of experience though Smith; Grimmer, Passley, Sambou, Kavanagh; Frei, Minkwitz, Bettache (Brister), Banya (Della Verde); Woodrow, Altman (Tankovic) Subs not used: Oberschmidt, O'Reilly All the match reports (even the awful Standard) have been full of praise, especially for the team's second half performance. Well done Kit and the lads (and Big Mac). I understand the semi -final against Burnley is on Feb 25th ko 7pm. Wouldn't it be a terrific coup if the club arranged to play the match at the Cottage ? Bound to be a whack of fans still around following our win at QPR and I'm sure loads of others with kids would also go along. Over to you MAC ....
cottager 58 Saw your article, with the reference to Valjing, and his complete enthusiasm for our reserves and Acadamy teams. Contrary to some beliefs, he and I are not the same person. My point is last week at a training session at MP,a regular stalwart was taken ill, several of the regulars mentioned that he not only was a season ticket holder, but he never missed a home Acadamy game. I do hope that if it was Valjing, his condition is not to serious, and I, along with others wish him a speedy recovery.
Gosh, yes I hope so too rosc. I was kind of curious when he didn't comment on the post about the reserves losing to Villa. Valjing, however you're doing, take care guy.
Likewise, all the best Valjing. Hopefully you'll be back on the board as grumpy as ever before too long!
Well, all I can say is come back Valjing! Without you to balance our board, the endless optimism of myself and others such as the Captain will warp our youngsters perception of the world! But in all seriousness, I also hope you're okay, Valjing. Looking forward to hear your enthusiasm for our youth prospects again before too long.
I think I can handle the pessimistic/realistic side of things. Get well soon Val! I need help minding the fort!
If it is our friend valjing/rfsteele, then my best wishes. And if not him, the same wishes to a fellow ST holder.
To all those concerned, inquired at MP as if anyone knew, who about the guy who was taken ill. A couple of the stalwarts told me it was a Robert Steele,so yes it was Valjing,i understand he is suffering with a heart lung condition. I said that if any of the regular supporters, knew him well enough to visit,he has many concerned well wishers among the FFC 606rs.
Rosc, thanks for making the time and effort to find out about valj. And for passing on the news, albeit not good. Valjing, know you'll get back on here soon , so thought I'd just confirm that AJ's ratio has gone up to £1.3m per premiership goal.
Yes, well done to Roscafre for taking the trouble to find out what was going on. Cottager, don't mention AJ - that's sure to give Valjing a relapse! We want him back and griping as quickly as possible! Get well soon, Valjing.
Obviously a well respected guy who is passionate about his football, so get well soon from all at SAFC
Well done the Club - the tie against Burnley will be played at the Cottage - but re-arranged for Wednesday 7th March http://www.fulhamfc.com/Club/News/NewsArticles/2012/February/YouthCupConfirmation.aspx
