Bottom line is that desperation on Portsmouth's part and lack of professionalism by the FA has cost the club dear on far too many occasions. Portsmouth should liquidate and start again, its the only way to rid yourselves of dodgy money grabbers. That way you may have to start from scratch, but it will be a fresh start. The club can't keep sh*tting on the working classes by not paying their bills. I also take this opportunity to ask all Saints fans to visualize that Fat greasy bell ringing T*at sulking today in his poxy book shop!!
Well Rich - I read an article where Admin Andy was quoted as saying that he originally introduced Southampton and Marcus.
At this moment in time John Westwood is feeling exactly the same as the rest of us FANS. We have no control over the club, we have been run into the ground by numerous criminals or mirages. Ridiculing the fans for this situation will not get you anywhere and I am fully aware of a number of Saints fans who can see through the rivelry here and see the situation for what it actually is.
I would like to believe that we did not sign an engagement letter with AA securing his services or indeed recompense him for said services.
I am the only saints fan in a workplace of portsmouth fans. Let me tell you that they have their tails between their legs now but were very vocal when we had our sticky patch. The fact that its a rivalry makes it sweeter i grant you , but on the hole for all footy fans when their teams in strife plead for help to anyone who will listen and then reform back to normal once they've recovered. In poopeys case "mouthy, corrupt idiots". When you were in the top flight buying your success off the sweat of the "little people", your fans didn't care where the money was coming /going!!! Now its caught up with you and your wallowing not a good look
Cortese & Liebherr were looking round Saints before the administrator was even appointed. The fact that Saints administrator knew of the wealth of Liebherr and never made him the preferred bidder shows how incompetant he was. Especially as he favoured a group that had no proof of money! So Saints got lucky and came out of admin with no thanks to Mark Fry the administrator. If admin Andy really did say that, then the bloke is a bigger fraud than I thought.
Can you honestly say you would feel any different if the boot was on the other foot? If you say yes then your in the drastic minority or a liar.
And to add to this, NC was approached about Southampton a couple of years earlier. The timing for the second occassion coincided with his meeting up with Markus on another matter and then he put the two together.
I think you possibly need to go and do some research. Pompey were owned by Sasha Gaydemek - he was bank rolling us. At the time of the cup win WE COULD AFFORD to run the club, pay the high fees and wages. SG withdrew his funding and thats when there was trouble. If Abramovich did the same at Chelsea they would be in exactly the same position! This is not just a problem with PFC but a problem with football in general. I understand that rivelry is still there, and we all have good banter on this forum, but your comments are unjust and you seem adament to rub our noses in our demise instead of looking at the bigger picture.
Ok. That "you didn't care where the money was coming or going" line is redundent. No fans of any club that spent millions in persuit of on-field success have ever given a monkeys where the money came from or what its spent on until its all gone. Ask Leeds or Rangers. We, the fans, take for granted that the money being is spent is actually there and that debts are being paid, we know nothing about how the money is spent and have no say in it. So we are reliant on the owners and the manager to be prudent with the money and not to leave us up **** creek once they've buggered off to pastures new. I work in Segensworth in an enviroment which is split between Pompey fans and Saint fans with the odd Spurs and Hammers fan thrown in. The atmosphere there is one of light hearted banter and rivalry. No one at my work that I am aware of gloated about Southampton's financial problems a few years back in an seriousness, certainly no one wished that Southampton would go out of business. There is a difference then between being vocal and being vindictive.
I suggest you scoot along and let the people who know what they are talking about discuss this matter. .....I forgot it was half term!
WOAHHHH. Where was the PROOF that Gaydemek had that money??? A bloke with no active businesses, no record of ever having significant income? All he had was a rich father who is a wanted Arms dealer and has owned and ruined a succession of Isreali football clubs and businesses. If any money was coming via his father into PFC, then I would seriously doubt that money was "clean". The sham lasted a few years, long enough for him to gain ownership via the back door of the land around Fratton and pull off a load of spin about new stadiums etc. When his father probably sussed his "dirty" money might not be able to go through the club anymore, he pulled out. All the major debts came from that time under Gaydemak and has been topped up by the following clowns who "owned" Pompey. This is not banter, its nearer the facts than many Pompey fans are admitting to.
And sarcasm will get you no where. I was not saying you were being vindictive, I was saying being vocal is not the same thing. There is a lot of ribbing, of jibes directed at Portmouth during this time of financial problems and the last at my workplace but none of it delivered with any malice. I dont know about your workplace but where I work there are no strong feelings of hatred based on whatever club you support.
