    Some high praise...

Asante Kotoko head coach Maxwell Konadu says he's been impressed with the set-up at Sunderland during a visit to Wearside.

The former Ghana international has spent two weeks with the club's coaching staff at the Academy of Light and took in last week's game against Arsenal.

Kotoko, who were founded in 1935, signed a partnership agreement with Sunderland recently and are Ghana's biggest club with more than 8million fans across the country and beyond.

"Everything has been wonderful and I have been very happy," he said. "I have learned so much.

"The facilities are world class, from the physio department to the training areas. It is fantastic."

He continued: "I believe Sunderland can be a top club. They have one of the best leaderships in the country and everything is working very, very well.

"The manager in charge has got everything under control."

The Porcupines are currently top of the Ghanaian (GLO) Premier League, four points ahead of rivals Berekum Chelsea.

Konadu's side play at the 40,000-seat Kumasi Sports Stadium and were crowned Africa's top club of the 20th century by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics.

The club, who have won 21 league titles, have been revitalised by the arrival of chairman Dr K K Sarpong, who also visited Wearside recently.

Konadu says he is hoping to secure a 22nd domestic crown this season to add to the excitement of the partnership deal with their Barclays Premier League counterparts.

"The whole country knows I am here, everybody. People are calling me every day for updates. My chairman is very excited.
"Kotoko is the biggest club in the country. We have a big supporter base.

"Dr Sarpong came in with some very good business ideas to lift the club from where it was to where it is now.

"He has made so many changes, and those changes have helped us a lot.

"Last year we couldn't win the league but this year the club has been able to top the table
    .
"Dr Sarpong is looking forward to his first league title, which we hope will be possible!"

Maybe a game between the two clubs will be on the cards sooner or later. It will certainly raise our profile in Ghana

It would be nice if both sides of the partnership could finish above 'Chelsea' !!!

Some new details in this, Commachio - thanks.
